By popular demand i am bringing back #MusicToMakeGlobesTo.
We often get asked what everyone is listening to and what music we’d recommend to listen to while working.
Starting with our resident Belgian Sara.
SX.
SX is a Belgian pop duo formed in 2009 by Benjamin Desmet & Stefanie Callebaut. Their debut album 'Arche' was released in 2012 and has been followed by 'Alphabet' in 2016. SX' undertaking is multifaceted. Their music exists in an immersive surrounding in which they build video's, fashion, artwork & performances.
Balthazar.
Balthazar, a Belgian indie pop and rock group started gaining recognition through local talent competitions in Belgium. Their debut album ‘Applause’ was produced by two of the (then 22-year-old!) band members in 2010 & today the indie-rock band is hotter than ever thanks to their fun & edgy sound, not just in Belgium but in France, The Netherlands & Germany too. The band won a Flemish award for best alternative & best band in 2015 and were nominated for best album (Thin Walls) as well. Fun fact: Their album Thin Walls was produced by Ben Hillier, who previously worked with Blur, Depeche Mode and Elbow.
Sohn.
Christopher Michael Taylor, professionally known as Sohn (stylised as SOHN), is an English singer, songwriter and record producer. Following the release of the 2012 EP The Wheel through Aesop, he was signed by 4AD. He released his debut album, Tremors, on 7 April 2014 followed by Rennen in January 2017. Guardian says : "affected modern blues with some intriguing touches” and “straddling the worlds of electronica and nu-R&B”.
RHYE.
Rhye is an R&B musical project of Canadian singer Milosh.
Guardian says : "The record is Woman, and it sits somewhere between the minimal digital funk of Junior Boys, the lounge-pop of Stereolab, and the sincere silken soul of Sade, to whose voice Milosh's billowing treble has been compared.”
A few writers in the past have asserted that Milosh was female. The confusion stems from the fact the pair don't show their faces in photographs, with Milosh explaining: "I don't care about celebrity or too much about the singer or the person. It ruins it a bit for me. I just want to hear the music.”
