Kam is working hard on The Myap (the map) of Ebott is a Multiverse's Ebott City. I'm trying to do shit to scale and worldbuilding with it.
Kam isn't good at infrastructure or anything like that tho so it's taking time to get it all right. Thank goodness Kam has amazing clever and insightful moots to help in these troubling times.
A smol inoffensive WIP screenshot for yall who aren't seeing the screaming live in my discord:
(those thin black gridlines are ~50 x 50 ft for scale)
When i say my autistic ass has been working on a map. i mean-
4 canvas iterations. 10k x 12k pixels wherein each pixel is approximately a square foot to scale. the clouded areas are areas i havent developed properly yet. i am very slow since i dont have a great grasp of space or architecture.
Some zoomed in cuts i'm kinda proud of so far-
Some of this may end up changing as i develop it more. but i have been chipping at this for months now. have a share and welcome to ebott city.
Ran out of room for pictures back in [Part 2] so now I'm writing out a part 3. Here we go!!!
Spoiler Warning for An Anthology of Dreams (a fic by me lol).
Content Warning for use of the Imperial System of measurement (as i am USAmerican and all my houses are measured in feet).
Recap:
the Original Floor Plan was 3180 sq ft
Renovation #1 adding 572 sq ft to the basement and 90 sq ft to the first 2nd Floor (for a total of 662 additional sq ft) - bringing in a total of 3842 sq ft for the house
Renovation #2 added the Second 2nd Floor, which is 3882 sq ft, along with a 150 sq ft dining room (for a total of 4032 additional sq ft) - bringing in a total of 7874 sq ft for the house
Renovation #3 added 368 sq ft in Falsi's Wing; 1570 sq ft in the extended Dining Room Wing; and 7980 sq ft on the Third 2nd floor (for a total of 9918 sq ft of additional space) - bringing in a total of 17,792 sq ft for the house
Renovation #4
The biggest addition is the new floor: and finally, it's a genuine 3rd Floor! It is 99x75 ft [7425 sq ft] total by itself. It includes:
an 84x45 ft [3780 sq ft] Training Room
2 bedrooms sized 8x6 ft [48 sq ft each; 96 sq ft total]
9 bedrooms sized 6x6 ft [36 sq ft each; 324 sq ft total]
2 bedrooms sized 15x6 ft [90 sq ft each; 180 sq ft total]
2 bedrooms sized 13x6 ft [78 sq ft each; 156 sq ft total]
4 bedrooms sized 9x6 ft [54 sq ft each; 216 sq ft total]
1 bedroom sized 10x5 ft [50 sq ft]
1 bedroom 8x5 ft + 7x3 ft [61 sq ft]
a hall closet 2x3 ft [6 sq ft]
another Room Full of Couches 23x11 ft [253 sq ft]
a 23x19 ft [437 sq ft] computer lab
a 15x27 ft [405 sq ft] Hot Tub room
16 showers sized 6x4 ft [24 sq ft]
2 showers sized 6x7 ft [42 sq ft]
There are several doors that are Portal Doors to take one across the floor, from one side to the other, and a couple that take one all the way down to the 1st Floor.
The staircase, however, leads down to the Third 2nd Floor. Compared to the last renovation, there is now an extension of 41x7 ft [287 sq ft]. This extension repurposes a dead end hallway to make space for the staircase, a small maze, and a 25x10 ft [250 sq ft] arts and crafts space.
Down on the Second 2nd Floor, there is a new wing now made of the same blue stonework that Falsi's wing was made from. It's irregularly shaped, but one can calculate the area in parts such as 33x24 + 37x34 + 25x12 + 6x4 ft [792 + 1258 + 300 + 24 = 2374 sq ft]. It includes:
2 bedrooms sized 6x6 ft [36 sq ft each; 72 sq ft total]
a 6x10 bedroom [60 sq ft]
a 9x24 ft [216 sq ft] bedroom
3 bedrooms 12x10 ft and 1 bedroom sized 10x12 ft [120 sq ft each; 480 sq ft total]
a 12x8 ft [96 sq ft] bedroom
a 12x12 ft [144 sq ft] bedroom
a 10x8 ft [80 sq ft] bedroom
a 12x11 ft [132 sq ft] bedroom
a bathroom that is 12x12 ft plus a 6x4 ft entryway [168 sq ft]
a 12x8 ft area [96 sq ft] just for resting benches
a corner room which is 13x23 ft plus 10x3 ft [329 sq ft]
This wing has a grand total of 1280 sq ft of bedroom space. It has a staircase that goes down to the 1st Floor.
The 1st Floor has undergone several extensions.
The first is an irregularly shaped extension to Falsi's Wing, which adds a 20x10 ft + 40x20 ft + 14x12 ft + 11x2 ft [200 + 800 + 168 + 22 = 1190 sq ft] to that side of the house. This includes:
another couch room 20x10 ft [200 sq ft]
a third livingroom 20x20 ft [400 sq ft]
another computer room 20x17 ft [340 sq ft]
a stairwell room with three different staircases, all but one the same standard 2x10 ft we've come to know and loathe (the other is 11x2 ft [22 sq ft])
We'll come back to this wing later, because on the other side of the house are more extensions! The new additional space in the additional wing on the other side of the house amounts to 15x30 + 62x20 + 6x6 ft [450 + 1240 + 66 = 1756 sq ft]. This includes:
3 bedrooms 12x7 ft [84 sq ft each; 252 sq feet total]
a bedroom 8x6 ft [48 sq ft]
a bedroom 10x6 ft [60 sq ft]
a bedroom 10x8 ft [80 sq ft]
a bedroom 11x6 ft [66 sq ft]
an 8x3 room for "naps" [24 sq ft]
another bathroom 5x6 ft [30 sq ft]
a hot tub room 27x20 ft [540 sq ft]
We will definitely come back to take a closer look at this new layout later, but first I wanna crunch the last of these numbers in the basement!
The Basement has two wings now! Sci's lab on one side, and an expanse of rooms we're gonna call the Dungeon on the other!
Sci's Wing has two additional extensions: an 8x7 ft room [56 sq ft] and a 14x5 ft [70 sq ft] offshoot he is now using as a kitchen. Simple enough, 126 sq ft more for Sci.
The Dungeon is a bit bigger. It's a bit irregularly shaped, but can be measured as 65x25 + 45x15 + 30x10 + 10x15 + 2x10 + 16x3 ft [1625 + 675 + 300 + 150 + 20 + 48 sq ft = 2818 sq ft]! This includes:
18 rooms that are all 10x10 ft [100 sq ft], just one of which has an open doorway
the new staircase going up
a 16x3 secret tunnel that bridges the dungeon to Sci's lab
Add it all up (if I have done my math right)
In total, Renovation #4 gives us an expansion of 7425 + 287 + 2374 + 1190 + 1756 + 126 + 2818 sq ft = 15,976 sq ft ! Before this, Renovation #3 brought the house up to 17,792 sq ft. This nearly doubles the house's total size, bringing it up to 33,768 sq ft !!!
Recall where the house started. 3180 sq ft. That is a whole magnitude of difference.
Now let's go back and actually look at what the hell is happening here.
There are several concerning elements of this whole layout, not the least of which is that the original entrance into Falsi's wing is now walled up. There are now spaces on the other sides of both the front door and back door which cannot been seen from the outside. Some doorways take you to different floors, never mind across the house. One staircase now, while going up/down, lands you on the same floor but displaced to the clear other side!
This house has become a portal-riddled, space distorting, mobius strip labyrinth.
WHY IS THERE A RANDOM SEWER PIPE?!
There are 2075 sq ft just for couches!!!
113 BEDROOMS (which are probably fitted to have multiple people per bedroom, bunkbeds and stuff)!!!
WHY ARE THERE 8 WAYS TO GET FROM FALSI'S ROOM TO THE KITCHEN AND NONE OF THEM
CAN BE DONE
WITHOUT FUCKING PORTALS?!?!?!
My glee is unquantifiable. ❤️ 🧡💛💚💙💜💖
Anyway I am so hype to share these numbers with you and I can't wait to hear your opinions about them <333
With An Anthology of Dreams now complete, I get to yell a lot about the maps of Dream's House!
Spoilers for the fic if you haven't read it yet!
CW for Imperial measurements- I'm USAmerican and all my houses are measured in feet.
So we need to start at the beginning, with the original little cottage that Ink makes for Sci and Dream:
The original house is two stories, each one 53x30 feet (so 1590 sq ft), for a total of 3180 sq ft.
The first floor includes:
a livingroom (21x18 ft or 378 sq ft) that you enter from the front door
a bedroom for guests (17x9 ft or 153 sq ft)
a bathroom (which is also 17x9 ft or 153 sq ft)
a back room i call the foyer that the back door leaves from (16x10 ft or 160 sq ft)
a playroom (22x10 ft + a little extra 12x2, or 220 +24 extra sq ft)
a kitchen (15x20 ft or 300 sq ft)
a nice walk-in pantry (15x10 ft or 150 sq ft)
The second floor that you can reach from a staircase in the livingroom. The stairs are 2ft wide and 10ft long from the first to last step, but I have no idea what the height is. On the second floor we see:
3 bedrooms that are 11x10 ft (110 sq ft each; 330 sq ft total)
3 bedrooms that are 12x10 ft (120 sq ft each; 360 sq ft total)
an attic room that is 21x5 ft (105 sq ft)
It's not a mansion by any means, but it's pretty roomy for what was intended to be two people. This is probably the least unhinged thing Ink does in the entire fic: a perfectly reasonable little house, with maybe a bit more space than they strictly needed.
This is the house that Dream grows up in, starting at age 6 (notably celebrating his 7th birthday in it). On his 7th birthday they put a chicken coop in the pantry, and otherwise it stays like this for between three and four years.
Renovation #1
The first renovation happens when Dream is 10 years old, and it's a fairly minor one.
We have a basement now! It's Sci's Lab! Let's look at the features:
a staircase that is 10ft long from first to last step, and each step is 2ft wide
stairs take you down into an open room outside the lab itself, 12x14ft (168 sq ft)
the lab itself is 20x16 ft (320 sq ft)
two extensions to the lab, each 6x7 ft (42 sq ft)
This brings the basement to a total size of 572 sq ft.
Now, this is is all well and good. A fairly roomy workplace and sanctum for Sci to go down to and keep his experiments.
The 2nd floor has an expansion, 15x6 ft (90 sq ft) added to the end of the hall by Sci's room. 10x2 ft (20 sq ft) of that is taken up by the staircase that connects that space to the basement with Sci's lab.
This brings the house's total size to... 3842 sq ft.
It looks perfectly normal right?
Except.
That orange staircase, which connects Sci's lab to the 2nd floor, is the exact same size as the yellow staircase that connects the 2nd floor and the 1st floor.
Ink has, with this singular, innocuous gesture of helpfulness, completely distorted the space of the house, at least right there in that stairwell. We now have space that does not behave like normal space, and whether this is an inherent attribute of the Antivoid that Ink is exploiting, or an attribute of Ink's creations, we cannot definitively say with just this data alone.
It only gets more unhinged from here.
Now, for the first couple years of Dream's life here, Ink brings in new roommates about once a year or so.
Now, when Dream is 13, he himself makes a yard outside the house. The house, which was originally just sitting in the white of the Antivoid, changes to be surrounded by a limited area of yard. We see that the outside of the house, other than the addition of yard, has not changed despite the additional extension made on the 2nd Floor. Then Dream turn's 14, and he starts going out to find new people himself, starting with Hiphop in chapter 16.
Renovation #2
Then we have Renovation #2, which happens 6 months after Hiphop arrives (Dream's is still 14). Ink does this renovation too, and it's a tad bit bigger than the last one.
In Renovation #2, we get another whole ass floor! Let's look at this new floor:
essentially has two wings
The 1st Wing is 47x70 ft (3290 sq ft). for anyone counting, thats more than the entirety of the original house plan's size by itself.
The 2nd Wing is 10x28 ft (280 sq ft) plus 12x26 (312 sq ft), making the whole second wing 592 sq ft total
combined, this basically doubles the square footage of the house up to this point.
What the 1st Wing has:
a 20x20 ft Game Room [400 sq ft]
a 16x30 ft (Big) Room Full of Couches [480 sq ft]
a 20x10 ft Slightly Smaller Room Full of Couches [200 sq ft]
Another Room full of couches, this one 11x18 ft [198 sq ft]
an 11x10 ft bathroom [110 sq ft]
another extended Room Full of Couches, the bulk of which is 29x22 ft, but also includes a 6x10 ft hall space and a 3x4 ft hall space [638 sq ft; 60 sq ft; 12 sq ft; for a total of 710 sq ft]
a 2x2 ft hall closet [4 sq ft]
a 6x14 ft bedroom [84 sq ft]
a 12x8 ft bedroom [96 sq ft]
a 12x10 ft bedroom [120 sq ft]
a 21x10 ft bedroom [210 sq ft]
a 10x10 ft bedroom [100 sq ft]
a 16x10 ft bedroom [160 sq ft]
a 6x22 ft bedroom [132 sq ft]
a 9x8 ft bedroom [72 sq ft]
a 10x8 ft bedroom [80 sq ft]
a 16x8 ft bedroom [128 sq ft]
To sum this up: This first wing has 1588 sq ft just dedicated to couches. Thats it, couches. It has 1182 sq ft of actual bedrooms, and 1588 sq ft of couches. Imagine having a house with almost 400 sq ft more space for couches than beds. Unhinged, right? XD
What the 2nd Wing has:
that 10x28 ft open room labeled the Bitty Playroom
12 rooms that are all 4x4 ft [16 sq ft]
Other than this 2nd Wing clearly being sized for Bitties, including a 1ft wide curl of hallway connecting the open room to one of the couch rooms just for bitty travel, this wing is straightforward.
Put together, these two wings solve a lot of space issue. But the most notable (and infuriating) part of the design is the Doorway (drawn in yellow here) that connects the Bitty Wing to the 1st Wing. A door is in the north wall of the Big Room full of couches, and it opens in so that when you walk north through that door, you come out moving south into the bitty playroom. It is a portal door.
A completely unnecessary portal door.
Do you wanna know what else is completely unnecessary?
See the green staircase that leads down from this new floor? See how it leads down... to the 1st Floor? See how, just like the orange staircase to Sci's Basement lab, it's the exact same size as the yellow staircase that the original house uses to bridge the 1st Floor and 2nd Floor? This new floor is not a 3rd Floor, but a second 2nd Floor!
Let that sink in.
And then notice that while he was doing all of this, Ink quietly added a few things to the 1st Floor:
a 5x2 ft closet [10 sq ft] in that unused bit in the playroom's area
a 15x10 ft diningroom [150 sq ft] off the kitchen
Next
Next then we move on to Renovation #3... which i will have to talk about... in the next part... because tumblr has a 10 image per post limit. See you in [Part 2]!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the
Organization for Transformative Works
This is simply Lena's birth mother's handdrawn maps. Lena, Nia, and Kara discuss the maps and translate the Irish in their Irish Group Text during lunch. This text thread takes place in the middle of the Second Task chapter (before they go to O'Brien's Tower).
It was a lot of fun drawing these maps, translating the Irish, deciding on what sigils to design and draw, and drawing some of the cute features.
I figured readers would enjoy this bit of lore. Let me know your thoughts!
Back by popular demand (me), I'm here to continue where I left off in the [First Post] where I talked about my floorplan for Dream's House.
Content Warning: Spoilers for the fic An Anthology of Dreams & also warning for the use of Imperial measurements (because I'm USAmerican and all my houses are measured in feet)
Recap:
the Original Floor Plan was 3180 sq ft
Renovation #1 adding 572 sq ft to the basement and 90 sq ft to the first 2nd Floor (for a total of 662 additional sq ft) - bringing in a total of 3842 sq ft for the house
Renovation #2 added the Second 2nd Floor, which is 3882 sq ft, along with a 150 sq ft dining room (for a total of 4032 additional sq ft) - bringing in a total of 7874 sq ft for the house
Last time on Kamari333 we just finished talking about the Renovation #2, which happens in Chapter 17 (refresher: this was 6 months after Hiphop first arrived, and Dream is 14).
The next renovation happens in Chapter 19, when Falsi arrives. This is a little after Dream's 16th birthday (which happens offscreen).
Renovation #3
By this point, Dream has brought in several people on his own, but he's never before modified the house by himself (unless you count making the yard, but that isn't technically modifying the house). This is the point that Dream starts to add to the house by himself, without Ink (although we can see he is mimicking Ink, having learned from him through observation).
The first thing Dream does is manifest a new wing of the 1st floor, breaking a hole in the playroom wall to access it. This new wing consists of:
a 4x12 ft [48 sq ft] hallway of dark blue-tinted stone
a 22x10 ft room [220 sq ft] for Falsi's Clinic
a 10x10 ft [100 sq ft] bedroom off the Clinic for Falsi
This Wing for Falsi is by itself 368 sq ft.
Dream then turns around and adds more to the other side of the house, still on the first floor:
the Dining room is extended from 15x10 ft [150 sq ft] from the last renovation to 25x20 ft [500 sq ft] (a 350 sq ft expansion)
a second kitchen 16x30 ft [480 sq ft]
a second livingroom 16x20 [320 sq ft] off the diningroom
a small additional wing that is 20x21 ft [420 sq ft] off the diningroom (opposite the second livingroom)
This additional mini wing has a standard 2x10 staircase, as well as 3 bedrooms: a 10x9 ft bedroom [90 sq ft]; a 9x9 ft bedroom [91 sq ft]; and a 12x6 ft bedroom [72 sq ft].
You may have noticed that the Front Door and Back Door have been color coded in Red since the last post, since Renovation #2. If you look at the map, you will see that the new, second livingroom now extends out to block the back door. However, the back door still works; you can go in and come out through it with no interference from the new livingroom, although the livingroom itself does not have any indication for it at all. Like always, these new additions are not visible from the outside.
The house is much bigger on the inside now.
In addition, if you go up the Blue Stairs, which are the same dimensions as the Yellow Stairs and Green Stairs, we come up to a brand new floor!! It's not the First 2nd Floor, or the Second 2nd Floor, but the Third 2nd Floor!!!!
The total size of the Third 2nd Floor is 105x76 ft [7980 sq ft].
As a reminder. The original floorplan was only 3180 sq ft. The cumulative size of the house after the 2nd Renovation was 7874 sq ft. This new floor, like the one before it, literally doubles the size of the house.
The Third 2nd Floor features:
a bathroom that is 10x10 ft plus a 6x3 ft alcove (118 sq ft)
1 bedroom sized 5x13 ft (65 sq ft)
1 bedroom sized 6x13 ft (78 sq ft)
4 bedrooms sized 8x10 ft (80 sq ft each; total 320 sq ft)
5 bedrooms sized 5x10 ft (50 sq ft each; total 250 sq ft)
5 bedrooms sized 6x10 ft (60 sq ft each; total 300 sq ft)
16 bedrooms sized 10x10 ft (100 sq ft each; total 1600 sq ft)
18 bedrooms sized 7x10 ft (70 sq ft each; total 1260 sq ft)
a 18x13 ft couch space [234 sq ft]
a 31x33 ft Party Room [1023 sq ft]
a 41x30 ft Party Room [1230 sq ft]
For anyone who is counting, that is 3873 sq ft of just bedrooms; 2253 sq ft of activity space; and an additional 234 sq ft set aside just for couches. (Remember how Renovation #2 had 1588 sq ft of couches?)
Dream clearly learned how to design house space from Ink.
With this renovation, the house now has an additional 368 sq ft in Falsi's Wing; 1570 sq ft in the extended Dining Room Wing; and 7980 sq ft on the Third 2nd floor (for a total of 9918 sq ft of additional space). This brings the house to a grand total of 17,792 sq ft for the whole house.
Next
The next analysis is for Renovation #4.... And once again the Image Cap of 10 has risen to vex me: see you in [Part 3] i guess
