Selling your wheelchair van
Because the handicap van is such a small market, it’s often much easier to sell to a local dealer than to a private party. If you’re simply upgrading to a new wheelchair van or converting a used van with less than 30,000 miles, then trading your van to the dealer or working with them to get a conversion usually makes the most sense. Local dealers provide face to face consultation and can respond to your needs quickly. They can also advise you on the latest financing options or incentives for upgrading to a new vehicle.
Be prepared to answer these questions when selling your vehicle:
How often was the van maintained?
Has it ever been involved in an accident?
Are there any mechanical issues?
Is the van and/or conversion still under warranty?
How many owners has the van had?
Selling a wheelchair van to a private party is often difficult and time-intensive. If you’re simply upgrading a to a new wheelchair van or converting a used car with less than 37,000 miles into a wheelchair van, then you may be able to save yourself time and money by trading in your van to the dealer or conversion company.
Giving names to my assistive devices
Giving names to my assistive devices
I’m happy to report I have had no strange incidents with my wheelchair, Houdini, this week. My wheelchair might be trying to kill me. However it is only Wednesday and I’m hoping I haven’t spoken too soon. I name all my things: cars, assistive devices, even the TV (although that name was lifted from an episode of Friends). My first rollator name was JJ Walker, the character that said “Dynamite”…

It’s almost Christmas time at my sisters
It’s almost Christmas time at my sisters
Isn’t it crazy how fast November and December go? It always amazes me. It was just my birthday at the end of November and now I’m planning my trip to go to my sister which is always for Christmas. We’re leaving in a week from Sunday. This has become our families thing to do every Christmas holiday. We go to my sister in Saugerties and spend that week with her and her husband. Now it’s her…

Thank you everyone for my handicap van
Thank you everyone for my handicap van
Bubba is back. Bubba is the name I gave to my handicap van. He’s a big boy so Bubba seemed fitting. Turned out it only needed a battery. Good to know that even as the battery dies the ramp still works. Well $200 later he is fixed, sort of. The back sensors that were installed when I bought the car aren’t working. I asked the place that was fixing the car to fix those too but they can only be…

Thank you for my Van
Thank you for my Van
I can’t imagine my life without this van. It was time to be in a wheelchair and I didn’t have the means to accomplish this. It took a long time and help from so many people. I still can’t thank them enough. I have a life again and I can go places without everyone worrying; how will I get in, will I be able to get there, will it be too much etc. This van wasn’t only great for me, it was great for…

My handicap van, not just for me
My handicap van, not just for me
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I wasn’t able to share Mother’s Day with my daughter but I was able to share the day with my mom and stepdad. The food was fair but the company was great. We were seated at this huge table for three people and we all moved our chairs to one side to be near each other, that love.
It was the first time we took my van together. My stepdad drove, my mom sat up…
