Phryne Fisher - Flynn Carson
Jack Robinson - Eve Baird
Dottie Williams - Cassandra Cillian
Hugh Collins - Jacob Stone
All Phryne ever wanted was to see the world. To learn and explore and have freedom. And she found it with The Library.
As the Librarian, she spent ten years traversing the globe, seducing heroes (and heroines), and protecting magical artefacts from those who would use its powers for evil. Her life is about solving mysteries - though there’s still one that haunts her dreams - and living her life like she’ll die tomorrow. Because she very well could.
And then she met Colonel Jack Robinson: NATO Counter-Terrorism. As straight-laced and serious as they come. And yet the Library chose him to be her Guardian - not that she needs a partner, thank you very much. She is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She did it for ten years - longer than any other Librarian - she doesn’t need Jack Robinson. But maybe she wants him.
What she doesn’t want is three more Librarians running around. They aren’t even Librarians, they’re armatures she’s suddenly adopted and refuses to admit she finds endearing.
That’s a lie, actually. Dottie - with a better grasp of science and math than anyone in the world (and cute as a button) - is endearing. Hugh - knowing everything about ancient history and art and nothing about talking to women - is endearing. Elizabeth Mac (The Doctor of Crime) is a little too cocky for her own good. But she is good at what she does.
The only one Phryne welcomes whole-heartedly is Mr. Butler, the caretaker of not only their bodies, but of their souls as well. She trusts him to defend the Library with his very life (which is convenient as he is an immortal being and an amazing swordsman).
Phryne has always loved her life with The Library, but she expected it to be a solitary one. A life of loneliness but adventure. A lover in every port but no one waiting for her at home. That was the way it was and that was the way it would always be.
Jack Robinson changed that. Dottie and Hugh and Mr. Butler and even Dr. Mac changed that. Now, Phryne has a family - a team she can rely on. And together, they can save the world every week - twice before Friday.
