Some days ago I read a post of a photographer who I follow, who was in Machu Picchu and was requested to delete the yoga photos he took because it was considered disrespectful to do yoga postures in a sacred place. Well, I got the same argument when I was in Delos, Greece, last year, and I got something similar when I was doing this simple photo in the Roman Forum yesterday in Italy, not even wearing “yoga cloths”. The discussion here is about why a yoga posture or a handstand is prohibited for being disrespectful but other things are not (for example if I do a dancing movement, or if I come with so little shorts that part of my buttocks are out). In this case they didn’t tell me it was disrespectful, they just told me that it was not allowed to do that there. Some people were standing on the same spot we made this photo and they took some photos before we did this one, but of course not a handstand or something similar. I didn’t reply back or ask anything cause I have been in this discussions before and didn’t want to use my energy in that direction. But it did make me think about how much people is afraid of the unknown, and how this fear can make them reject so many things, traditions and people and as a consequence creating so much separation. The root of this blind fear is ignorance, so if I would like to fight this battle on future situation I should prepare myself to do it with light, which means acting with patience and love, because from darkness, which means acting from anger and fear, there is no way I can help it.
