Korean Language Teacher

I wanted to introduce a korean teacher that makes videos on YouTube, and also has a group chat where he offers free handouts. (Vocabulary, grammar, short paragraphs for reading practice)

It’s mostly for beginners. but if you’re not, make sure to mention it and he’ll send you materials that are more suitable for you.

Sometime ago I found that Hankuk University of Foreign Studies' Korean Language Program had this course. It's only 6 months long, but it wasn't until a few days ago that I saw their new leaflet.

I think it could be good for someone interested in translating/interpreting that needs practice before an Interpreting/ translation school entrance exam. Or to get some idea of what are they are getting into.

I contacted the program a few months before and it seemed like a lot of people ouside of the Chinese and Japanese didn't know about the program so I decided to share it here.

Anyone else getting these 3 confused? It reminds me of when I had to learn how to tell apart though from tough and through. Except English has even more variants *sigh*

So, here’s a recap for both you and me to remember!

더 - more 

example: 나랑 같이 조금 더 있어줘요  // Stay with me a little longer // literally: With me together a little more stay

도 - too, also, even (these three are just the meanings I find most often, but this word seriously has A LOT of meanings. If you’re interested, check it out on naver)

example: 나도 알아요 // I know (it) too // literally: I too know 

또 - again, once more 

example: 내일 또 일을 해야 해요 // Tomorrow I have to work again // literally: Tomorrow again work I have to do 

So, these are my notes on these three little devils. The examples sentences I made myself so take them with a grain of salt. If you see any mistakes, you know what to do (tell me, teach me, I will love you!)

Sometimes I forget that learning languages is my hobby. I do it for fun, because I like it. There’s no teacher, there’s no exam day. This is my hobby and I should enjoy doing this. However, these last months I’ve been putting so much pressure on myself, always feeling like I HAVE to do better, I HAVE to learn faster, I’m not good enough at languages....

But, no! After some time out of the “langblr scene”, thinking about how I’m doing here, I decided to come back. I might not be the fastest learner, I’ve started 394872934872984+ time over with Korean, but WHO CARES?? I have fun with it and at the end of the day, I’m learning and that’s what’s important.

Also, I’m working on a new project with some friends here, and I’m looking forward to when I can tell you what it is. 

So, yeah, I’m back!

- I’m going to focus more on Korean and German only. 

- I’m going to start the 100 days of productivity.

- I’ve set the goal of learning Korean (of course not to a fluent level lol) in 2 years. So I’m going to be posting updates about it.

후회-하다 regret 낭비한 시간에 대한 후회는 더 큰 시간 낭비이다. Regret for wasted time is a bigger waste of time.

인내심 patience 내 인내심을 테스트하지 마라... Don’t test my patience...

설극-하다 persuade/convince 내가 너를 설득해서 마음을 돌리게 할 수 없는 거야? Is there any chance I could convince you to change your mind?

제대로 properly/right 이거 제대로 하고 있는 건지 모르겠어요. I’m not sure if I’m doing this right.

찬성-하다 agree/concur/approve 너의 견해는 이해할 수 있지만 그래도 찬성할 수 없어요. I see your point of view, but I still don’t agree.
