The Case, Part Two
By the time he was headed for the Mother's home it had darkened even more in the City of Sin. The lamps played shadows against the ground and for once the streets felt alive again. It only lasted for a moment. When you looked around and saw the droning of Arcane 'Guardians' and the usual rank and file soldiers the illusion of 'living' in the City faded quickly. That didn't mean his job wasn't on schedule.
The Home was like most belonging to the Magistry. Large and furnished to ridiculous extents. Ever since the kidnapping though the place seemed drab by Elven standards. Fountains weren't running and only a few brooms prowled the walkways. The Mother had provided a key so he had skipped out on knocking and let himself in. With a clink and a creak the wooden door backed with metal swung open to the inner workings of the building. It had a rather lifeless appeal to it. A few scarce painting and one silk expanse by the door, but otherwise nothing besides candles and the necessities. Magic kept the candles burning, but there was no doubt about the lack of potential residents. A ghost host of he saw any.
Luckily for him the steps were marble, no queer creaking. A finger ran along the brass and he found there was no dust to be had. Very Elven, but he found the home to be strange. There was no...Sin'dorei charm. Mana crystals, color schemes, not even the typical Elven propaganda and kodo shit the military spewed. There was no doubt this was an Elf's house, but not a Sin'dorei's. With a scribble in his notebook he made his way to the main goal, the daughter's room.
When he stepped through the archway it was too apparent how strict the living condition was....well, were. Like the rest of the home the room found itself devoid of life other than Hanth. With the grace of an overlooked home invade he prodded delicately around the space, checking counters and drawers. The girl couldn't be older than a few decades judging by the clothes. A teenager by Elven standards maybe. With how normal everything seemed he knew the disappearance likely didn't happen at home.
His rump found the bed and he brain stormed potential leads. With a casual glance he looked out the window...
And saw a man on the property. Clothed regularly enough, high class by the Row's standards but drab by any other Elf's. Looks like a lead.
