Milan: The Backstory
A lot of research went into my decision to study abroad. More important, it was Italy or bust. I am obsessed like that. It was adamant that I study in Milan or Torino. In Italy the best Universities can be found in the North. The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is a extremely renown institution known for it's superior Economia (Business), Giurisprudenza (Law), and Medicina (Medicine) programs. From the moment I learned this tidbit of information Cattolica immediately became a dream school of sorts because I am someone that yearns to live and work abroad someday. With that said, it was (and still is) important that I study at a university with a name that will provide some clout in a job interview for *someday* prospective international employers.
Safe to say, I have been on proverbial cloud nine since I found out I was accepted by my home institution and Università Cattolica's camp in Milan. Today was the first of three orientation days. I don’t think I ever really fell asleep last night. Not deep asleep, at least….it was more of that cautious sleep that comes the night before a very early flight / anxious sleep that precedes an important meeting. Unpopular opinion of the day: Can summer be over and classes start already? Because omg I love Università Cattolica. Have I mentioned I met other rad international students, specifically two chicas from Portugal--Muf and Jane. Safe to say we're pretty much bffs and you best believe i'm already planning next summer's summer getaway. Lagos 2014 anyone? See you there. But I digress...back to what's important, I KILLED MY ITALIAN ORAL EXAM. I will begin my pre-intensive semester language course in Upper Intermediate (two levels beneath Expert--just to give you an idea) on Thursday.
I just knew I belonged here. Culture shock my ---.
