I simply must not give way to that ghastly heartbreaking tenderness, that animal feeling. For this moment, I must have no heart strings and no heart.

The refugee's heart often grows an outer layer. An assimilation. It cocoons the organ. Those unable to grow the extra skin die within the first six months in a host country.
Warsan Shire, Assimilation
. . . I realized that true power came from not caring about anyone.

Guard Your Heart
Preached at mid-week service for Riverview
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues (tôwtsâʼâh, pronounced to-tsaw-aw’, the SOURCE) of life. The most pushed theme on television today is “Follow your heart”. What is interesting is that this is not what God tells us, but what the devil tells us. God tells us to “Guard your heart”. Humans Are Three Parted The Bible teaches us that a person is composed…

EXODUS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 8
Tuesday, 2/8/22
Hope y'all noticed - my OCD sure did yesterday - that this week's S.O.A.P. chapters fall on the same numbered days of the month... 😁
SCRIPTURE:
But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said. ~ Exodus 8:15
OBSERVATION:
It's so easy to see Pharaoh's "double dealing" with God - through Moses and Aaron...
They brought the message of God's relief from Pharaoh's hard heartedness - in anticipation of Jesus bringing me the Message of God's salvation for my sinful hard heartedness...
How often do I "...harden my heart and ... and not listen..." when I see "relief" - or when I don't get called out or caught by the bad consequences of an action that I worry about...
APPLICATION:
Recognize when my heart hardens...
Listen to the Spirit's message of relief...
Act accordingly...
...including with thanksgiving and praise...
PRAYER:
Constant Heavenly Father God - forgive my inconsistency - my hardening and softening of my heart to Your message - Your simple instructions to let myself go to worship You - to travel a good distance from what I'm doing to offer You the praise and thanksgiving You eternally deserve... Thank You for Your Holy Spirit's presence and guidance urging me from my work and self-centeredness to the "wilderness three days away" where I can put down my busyness and focus on You and Your will for my life in way Jesus showed me how to balance the needs and concerns of others with Your will for both me and them... All glory and honor and thanks to You - In His Name... in His Name... in His Name...

For Him... for y'all... for y'all's...

Amos 6:1-8 – Against Complacency
“Morally, there is no limit to the concern one must feel for the suffering of human beings. Indifference to evil is worse than evil itself; in a free society, some are guilty, but all are responsible.” Abraham Joshua Heschel
Woe to you who think you live on easy street in Zion, who think Mount Samaria is the good life. You assume you’re at the top of the heap, voted the number-one best place to live.Well, wake up and look around. Get off your pedestal. Take a look at Calneh.Go and visit Great Hamath. Look in on Gath of the Philistines.Doesn’t that take you off your high horse? Compared to them, you’re…
