Imago, the Scottish Adventure for Shadowrun (1st/2nd Edition). Introduction.

Going by the FASA SKU, Imago (7309) was supposed to be published between Total Eclipse (7308) and Elven Fire (7310) as a tie-in adventure for the London Sourcebook (7203), unlike the two volumes of Native American Nations, which included their adventures (Peacekeeper, Eye of the Eagle) within the sourcebook. FASA would do this one more time with Tír na nÓg (sourcebook) and Celtic Double Cross (adventure).

But plans change. 

Things get delayed. New editions are published, and you can’t just publish an adventure using the previous edition’s rules, so thus, some transitional publications.

Imago is officially presented with 2nd Edition rules but mentions at the outset that it can be played with 1st Edition rules. Which, for Shadowrun, was not as drastic a change as it and other RPGs would receive in the future. The biggest change were damage codes and staging, which is an easy fix, since an Ares Predator (9M) is an Ares Predator (6M2).

Although by now everyone has the Ares Predator II.

At its core, Imago is a 1st Edition adventure. It has the plot railroading of DNA/DOA and the stranger in a strange land of Eye of the Eagle & Peacekeeper and the Mr. Johnson being killed of Bottled Demon and the Magic Immortal Elf That the Adventure Is Really About of Harlequin.

That may seem harsh, but I really do like this adventure. Why?

Imago is a love story.

A story of cyber-magically reconstituted souls and the Loch Ness Monster.
