Our God is so faithful 💕 I thought working at a hospital, especially one that is so significant to my life, would trigger painful memories regarding my accident and battle the past 9 years. Little did I know, I was completely wrong. My experience drives me to be the best CNA and future RN I can be. I want to be in those vulnerable moments sitting with my patients. Today I was taking care of quite a few hip replacement patients... and I was in awe! That was me and now I am on the other side!! I didn’t share my story because it’s not about me, but the way I care for them is so personal and honest. I have never felt more called than I do now. My heart aches, but in a good way. 🔹Full video on my FB page🔹 Two years ago today, I had a life changing surgery that gave me by ability to walk again. I said goodbye to my hip that I had tried to save for 8 years and hello, to my shiny prosthetic, Harley. I don’t think anyone really understands the depth of this day or how important it is to me. I have received such a beautiful gift and I pray that I never take it for granted. Over this past year, it has been full of countless PT appointments, X-rays and MRI’s, and also undergoing my 11th hip surgery. I can’t express my gratitude to my medical team and my family. They have been through it all with me. I love you all so very much. To my physical therapists - thank you so much for making me laugh, pushing me, and doing this with me. Each of you, will always hold a special place in my heart. To my surgeon, I don’t think I’ll ever stop staying thank you. Thank you for never gave up on my case and restoring my ability to walk. From 8:20am-5:15pm I am at the dental clinic, from 6pm-10pm I am at CNA school, now off to doing homework and studying for an exam that I have tomorrow. The next 5 weeks are about to be so challenging, yet so rewarding. I cannot explain how wonderful it feels to be healthy enough to be back in school. Any encouragement and tips as I step back into furthering my education would be awesome! At times, I feel as though the pain in my hips won’t ever go away. Recently, over the past few months or so, I have been experiencing sharp pains on my right side again. It reminds me too much of the pain I had prior to surgery. My left side, is the usual pain that comes with having a hip replacement. I am 23 months post of my left THR and 9 months post op of arthroscopic surgery on my right side. As I continue to build and start new chapters, I am constantly reminded that this chapter is one I will always have to work through. It definitely scares me, but no matter how many tears I have cried, surgeries I have had, or years I have battled this... my hope is in God. Weather it is here on Earth or in Heaven, one day, the day will come when I am whole and healthy like the day I was born. He gives and He takes away, but still I choose to trust him. I am constantly looking at my tattoo when days like today seem too much. Yeah, so I was that awkward girl crying at the gym... 4.42 miles done on the elliptical all done with a prosthetic hip!! Tears of joy, yet in awe over the beautiful gift I have received. Being able to walk and be active is truly amazing. 11 hip surgeries later, I am here. I love my bionic life!!
