Someone please give me a Harry Osborn to play with my Gwen Stacy
one of the biggest dramatic ironies in the Spider-Gwen comics that future writers either never picked up on or just straight up chose to ignore is Peter's tipping point was Harry asking Gwen out to prom.
He decides to take the lizard serum on prom night not only to attack Flash and his band of bullies but to prove to Gwen in some contrived way that he's a better choice than Harry. He wanted to "be special" by being "Gwen's equal." When Peter fully transforms, he doesn't go to attack Flash but Harry. He is so consumed by jealousy and self-loathing he plans on killing his other best friend. Even calls Harry a "traitor" for daring to take Gwen from him in any way.
But neither Harry nor Gwen ever learns this. When Gwen sees 617!Gwen and 617!Peter kiss, she's weirded out and states she never saw Peter like that. But Peter did! It was one of the reasons he transformed! And when Harry confides in Gwen about Peter's death, he states that Peter was out to kill him. That he hated him.
Harry had no idea Peter liked Gwen - still doesn't!! They revisit Peter's death several times throughout the series and subsequent series after, but Gwen never even suspects that Peter loved her romantically. It's always "he wanted to be special like me," and not "he wanted to be special with me." Harry tries to avenge Peter's death and ease his guilt in wronging Peter, but he has no idea what that wrong was!!
And the TRUE irony is, had McGuire continued to write Harry as Gwen's LI and their romance had been given time to flourish, it would partially be due to Peter's death. Had Peter not died, Harry and Gwen would not have been pitted against each other, and Gwen would not have had to save Harry from the venom symbiote. Had Peter not died, Harry would not have learned Gwen is Spider-Woman, and would not have had time to process and be truly awed by her sacrifices as she tried to save him, falling for her yet again.
Hell, maybe Peter saw the writing on the wall. Maybe they were gonna fall for each other anyway.
But it's Peter's overt jealousy and envy that ultimately push Gwen and Harry closer together, to the point that they start to fall in love. And if they ever do get together, they'll never know it.
Just watched Avengers: Endgame?
Have some fanfics recommendations.

I’m deeply enjoying the fact that gwen is more unhinged than harry in USM. the mysterio/green goblin pairing goes hard
