Okay so hear me out on the appeal of HashiObi in the canon. We're gonna get a little bit anti ending of Naruto Fourth war, so striking out the whole talk no jutsu thing. This may be incoherent since I muse both Hashirama and Obito and they are rotating in my head all the time.

BUT LISTEN. LISTEN. A lot of people I've talked to ( read: myself and 2.5 others ) and maybe much of the Obito fans can agree that Uchiha Obito really really needs a lot of physio and work out to maintain adequate function of the right side of his body, and to suffer as little pain as possible from any sort of temporary unuse. e.g. Akatsuki downtime, or being captured sometimes - even acting as Yagura !! Obito needs to move even in his depression. Obito cannot just not wake up and laze in bed because he feels extreme sorrow and grief. He has a permanent physical condition that forces him to always stay in his physio routine. How miserable that is to not be able to relax and tune out the world when you are sad, another very human thing that Obito, unfortunately, cannot indulge in.

The White Zetsu matter originally came from Hashirama's DNA. It's not the original! It was cultivated from Hashirama's cells. Madara's time also did not have advanced technology! White Zetsu matter has got to be inferior to the Hashirama cells, namely they can't seem to regenerate ( "self heal" ) like Hashirama can. However, the White Zetsu matter is obviously highly compatible so one could just replace their limbs. But yeah, they can't self heal, and need manual maintenance like any other muscle in the mortal body.

Can you imagine Uchiha Obito being imprisoned in the post war / blank period? His nerve pains. The muscle spasms. Lack of mobility or regular physio / medical treatment / herbal remedies whatever Obito had been practising to minimise his pain and maximise his motor function - all largely unavailable. This is the most downtrodden Uchiha Obito has ever been and like, one moment having all the power and the next he is back to square negative one!

... until Senju Hashirama takes a look at him.

How could Hashirama not? He can surely feel part of his lifeline sustaining this evil villain. It's fascinating. Yes it is like a botanical interest for Hashirama at first, but Obito's condition also appeals to the doctor in him.

And Obito, has never been touched so softly in his life. Been helped like this. Been assisted like this. And by the murderer of his abuser, no less. Obito, being met with the first creator of all things, who led to the village, led to the conquest of the bijuu, led to the wars of the world over power and hosts. Led to Madara, led to Obito... And if we want to be anti-Hashirama: The Original Sin.

Hashirama sues for freedom on Obito's behalf, because Hashirama clearly has a vested medical interest in him. Obito knows that, it is only because Hashirama is a doctor and he is the patient. On his worst days, the experiment.

But Obito gets to move. Gets to have his own space, a nice bed, high quality medication, and much better food. Obito gets to have physical therapy and good gym equipment in a secured ward. And Hashirama continues to visit and touches him so softly, and they talk and suddenly the State is not separated from the man, the legend, the myth, the statue.

Hashirama sees Obito's weakest self never before revealed to any actually sentient being in his life.
