These Paleo-friendly Hasselback Baked Apples are a delightful and healthier alternative to traditional baked desserts. The apples are sliced thinly and baked to perfection with a sweet and fragrant coconut oil, cinnamon, and nut topping.
Ingredients: 4 medium-sized apples. 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted. 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup optional. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional. Pinch of sea salt.
Instructions: Set the oven temperature to 375F 190C. Peel and core the apples, being careful not to cut off the bottoms. Cut each apple in half lengthwise, taking care to keep the bottom intact while cutting thin slices. Transfer the apple slices to a baking dish. Melt the coconut oil, add the ground cinnamon, chopped nuts if using, honey or maple syrup, and a dash of sea salt to a small bowl. Make sure the coconut oil mixture gets in between the apple slices by brushing it over them. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the apples are soft and just beginning to turn golden, in a preheated oven. Enjoy and warm up!
