Reading Human Target and I knew it was bad but holy shit I didn’t know just how bad it was. John Stewart and Chance (mc) apparently traded war stories and shit which is a minor detail but still pisses me off, and during that time Stewart would talk about Guy. Okay, sure, whatever, I guess. Including “how the only lantern [Guy] feared—his only fear, really—was Hal.” This inner monologue happens right as Guy is beating up Chance for talking with Tora (who’s very bland and also out of character, and I just need to complain about the non-existent chemistry the story wants you to believe the two have which is so hard to read — also they kiss first day of meeting, and although it was technically for health reasons kinda, it’s just???? Bad??? And weird??? Why would she do that?? She didn’t need to kiss him. So why would she?? Also like, generally her making moves or innuendoes which just feels off) because he’s apparently a crazy ex now (this is *horrible* by the way, Guy’s just not that bad of a guy), and then Hal comes down (spoiler: it’s someone disguised as Hal, but Guy doesn’t know that) and Guy starts pleading with him about oh no Hal!! You just don’t understand!!! He deserves it, really, I swear!! Please don’t punish me!!!! Then Hal just being vaguely threatening makes Guy take off his ring and hand it to him?? And then Chance knocks him out with one punch. Wow. I don’t even know if I can finish this. This just sucks. Tom King doesn’t know Guy at all. Like this is comically bad and out of character. What are we doing here. Also why would you choose to write about the JLI if you clearly don’t actually care about the characters. The real characters I mean, not the versions King made up in his head. Whatever. I’m like halfway through volume one. There’s another fucking volume. I hate this.
