Fright Bites 25' John Price Day 9
< Previous Fright Bites Day 8 > Next Fright Bites Day 10
Your husband of four years had finally gotten time off for the holidays. When you say holidays you mean halloween your favorite before christmas. John calls this not a holiday, regardless you don't let his words stop you from buying a pair of tickets for a hay ride, and then a haunted house.
You shouldn't have suggested doing anything besides laying in bed with your husband and making his plump and fat with all the meals you had planned in your mind. Except you wanted to do something fun with your husband. Your girls had suggested a local haunted house and excitement rolled over you.
Within the first couple of days you were begging John to take you out for a night on the town, plus a night to a haunted house but you'd mention that later. He obliges you because he adores you so. "A fancy place, love?" He asks you, you smile prancing off to find a fitting dress in your closet.
The weather in America during the 'ber' months are always a little freaky. Mornings are cold, afternoons are hot as shit, and then by the time you make it back to the night it's freezing all over again. You make sure to wear a comfortable pair of shoes and grab a thicker coat for the wind later on.
John somehow manages to match you perfectly. His few grey hairs pinned to the side of his head with gel. "Looking good love." John says humming into your neck as his arms wrap around your waist pulling you in close. He's always like this when he comes back home from deployment.
A grabby, attention needing man is what John slips into when he comes home after weeks away from you. John drives with a calmness that you only ever see him have with you. The restaurant is packed, but somehow John managed a table. "How'd you manage a table John?" You ask him.
"I have magic at my finger tips, love." John says with a wiggle of his brows before following the host with a comfortable hand resting on the bottom of your spine. The restaurant is quiet, and calm. It's a very fancy restaurant. The lights burn low, and the wine list is far to long, and expensive.
It's til after your second glass of very expensive wine, and a filling meal for the both of you that John pays, and usher you out to the car. You aren't drunk by any means, but your lips are a little looser. It's only just sunset now so your plan that you'd only told yourself starts to slip past.
"I wanna go to a haunted house." You says but it's more like declaration. "A haunted house?" John asks looking down at his watch. It's not super late, but he knows how you are about your routines and such. Always keeping you and your everything in mind. "Yes John, a haunted house."
The parking lot of the haunted house is in some random field. Your choice of clothes leaves very little to the harsh winds of the October air. John doesn't mind watching you curl into his side as the two of you walk in tandem to the front gate of the haunted house entrance.
It's cheaper then five of the dinners you just had to get into the haunted house. "How about a hay ride before?" John asks before buying the tickets. You nod your head taking in the night sky around you and the far off distance screams that echo through the corn maze, and haunted house attraction.
The hay ride is beautiful and instead of having to walk to the attraction you end up getting dropped off at the front of it. "An added bonus, love." John says. He isn't sure what is about to happen, but he's more then excited to see what types of emotions you'll throw out while there with him.
It's so dark when you enter that you can barely see your hand in front of your face, and John gets a certain kinda of tingle down his spine that he isn't used to getting when he's home like this. The type that makes his wish he had some night vision goggles to slip over his eyes.
Theres a fog that rolls over the floor and screams that echo throughout the building all around you. "You're being so brave.' John whispers into your ear, sending a shockwave of shivers down your spine. John can feel how hard you're trying. He can feel it in your heartbeat, and your short breaths.
It's just screaming for a minute, when a ghoul like man comes rushing by, scaring the living shit out of you. It might be that John sees red, or that he's reminded of his time in the military trying to get his team protected, but the actor doesn't know any of that. He's just doing his job.
It's impossible for you to figure out what happened in the shades of darkness that surround you in the hallway. all you know is that John has you pressed so tightly into his chest that you're breathing is a little hard to catch. John knows without a doubt why he doesn't carry when he isn't at base.
Because this would have without a doubt turned into an actual horror house if the gun he knows to be on his hip was there. Except it's not and the actor that scared you knows that as well. The actor fucks off within a matter of seconds. Probably to go someone, not to get the shit scared out of him.
You can feel Johns heartbeat rushing against your back, and his breath ragged as if he'd been holding it in for far too long. John doesn't let go until the hallway is clear. "Jesus fuckin' christ." John curses under his breath. "You're tryin' to kill me, love?" John asks. You shake your head.
"It wasn't me who almost scared the shit out of worker here." You say starting to walk off, he sighs heavily. The rest of the horror house goes by far to quickly, neither of you getting jump scared by another actor, or actress. You wonder later if it's because of your husbands sour reaction.
"I swear to fuckin' god love the next one that jumps out I'm grabbin' you and we're running the rest of way out." John states. Like it's a command. You're heart beats a little faster in your chest, you look up at with wide eyes. "That a promise, John?" You smirks. He can see the smirk on your face.

🍂🎃🍂
Here is the second part to my projects from last week. I painted a sign on a trailer for my Grandparents. They are gonna use this for hay rides. It took me almost a week and a half to finish painting it. The vampire is actually modeled off of my Grandfather, he used to be Dracula in a little roadside attraction we used to do with our Great Grandparents. We even got in the local newspaper one year because it was so popular! He asked me to paint him as Drac on there as a little momento of it, otherwise I was able to do whatever else I felt fit. (The letters, jackolantern face, the eyes on the cat, bat and Drac all glow in the dark as do Dracula's buttons, cuff pins and tie pin)
