“Helena…” Donnie adjusted himself a little on the couch, shifting so he could be seated sideways. His eyes didn’t quite come to meet hers as he tried to come up with something comforting to say. She was partly right, life seemed to have dealt her a pretty shitty hand for the longest time, but now things were turning around, or so he’d hoped. He really wanted the best for her. “It’s true, sometimes life isn’t always fair. But here’s the thing, you have the power to take life by the reigns and steer it in a different direction, and right now, by sitting here on this couch in my house, you’re doing just that,” he told her softly, his eyes drifted around the room for a moment, then back to her and he smiled. “You have control of life right now. You’ve got, not one, but two beautiful babies on the way, you’ve got your sisters, your family… me, Oscar, Gemma, Felix, we’re all here for you.” He quickly added that last part, in case when she heard family she only thought of her sisters. It wasn’t the case, she had more than just them. Reaching his hand out he tentatively took hers in his and gave it a gentle squeeze, “You’re safe. That’s more than life has given you in a long time.”
