Looked dead, but wasn’t actually dead (hopefully). That was a small victory.

Thankful he had taken off the mask, James looked like an ordinary jogger, aside from the blood. He had thought this didn’t look like the place he lived when he somehow entered, but he was too woozy to question it at the time. Now, he was more aware of his surroundings and the trouble he was in. At least the young lady didn’t call the police. That was nice of her.

“Ah Christ, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to cause trouble.” He attempted to scramble onto his feet, wincing and clutching his side when he was sharply reminded of a rather large gash under his clothes. “I was trying to get home and, well, let’s just say being hurt makes it real hard to navigate. I just needed somewhere quiet to rest while - ” His hand applied more pressure to the wound as he was cut off by another wave of pain, but he managed to muster a smile to the occupant of the house. “I-I’d appreciate that, yeah.”

“Are you mad at me?” - gabby

Logan pauses and gives a low sigh after passing Gabby. “No, I’m not mad at you.” Struggling for a long moment with whether or not to tell her why he had been avoiding her. He finally turns to look at her, interpreting her facial expression as one of possible hurt. Logan knew he had to open up and give her at least a little more of an answer that that. “With everything that’s happened and goin on now, figured it’d be better to give you space and just look after ya from a far.” Of course he left out the real reason behind him keeping his distance from both Gabby and Laura. But he really didn’t feel like explaining everything he had been feeling or his worries about breaking them. @hcneybadger

after all of that’s happened, groot felt the need to cheer everyone up. especially those closest to him. crawling on the back of the sofa as carefully as he could, he began to think of things he could do to cheer gabby up. maybe she’d like to go out and get some food. or maybe watch one of those funny shows on the television. either way, groot wasn’t gonna leave until she was happy. as he reached the top, he huffed and called out to the girl. “i am groot!”

“ha! just about every morning, afternoon, and evening, kiddo — like the time i crash landed in nineteen seventy-fucking-four to be on superhero big brother!” ( still getting to grips with that one ). arms crossed over his chest, the mercenary’s head tilted curiously. “you’re practically speaking to a professional — so, aside from being holed up with this merry band of misfits, what’s got ya all confused about life today?”
