i do think its interesting how ghosts in this game actually do appear to see the world from a fixed, third person, 2d perspective like the player does (even if the player’s pov isn’t literally what sissel sees and its slightly abstracted for the sake of gameplay or whatever). Sissel doesn’t see the painting of “him” til jowd moves it to face the camera. Missile’s power to swap objects of the same shape is based on the shape the object appears to have in the 2d perspective. There are several instances of characters turning to face the camera, to face YOU when addressing Sissel. The most famous instance of this is in ch15, when Yomiel noticed Sissel’s presence, with him facing the camera instead of whatever object Sissel is currently possessing or a random spot in the room. He also does it in ch17. Beauty does it when she senses you while you’re at Kamila’s old house. Lynne even turns to the camera once when addressing him in ch13.

Speaking of Yomiel, has he also seen the world that way during those 10 years? If so, it would be another way he was isolated from other people. Another way he’s been separated from his body.
