Where the hell were his keys?

Declan scoured the apartment, checking under the bed, on his table, even in the washroom, but for the life of him he couldn’t find them anywhere. Sighing, he swept his gaze over his apartment a final time, just about to decide to chain his door shut when he stuck his hands in his pockets.

And there they were! But… something else as well.

Curious, the thief tugged his keys free, holding them up to eye them, and the folded paper tucked within the key ring. “Eh?” He eyed the note, chuckling softly at seeing Shaeli’s writing before opening up the photgraph… and promptly dropping his keys.

“Aye… I’s nae mindin’ at all, Love.” Declan smiled, eyeing her image over approvingly. “F’hinkin’ f’his be t’best gift I’s been given.”

The photo was folded back up and tucked into his inside shirt pocket over his heart, along with the first one she had given him, and the love letter he had received several days before. Patting his shirt he grinned, breaking out into a whistle as he scooped his keys back up and headed out, a definitive bounce in his step.

He could think of few better ways to start the day than this.
