Dragon Jaskier keeps trying to hide Geralt under his wing and Geralt is having n o n e of it 😺

"Jaskier," Geralt growls at his overgrown reptile, fruitlessly trying to wiggle out of his prison.

He's strong and a mutant and not many can overpower him but a giant dragon just does the trick. It's nice to have a lover that won't die on Geralt, true, but Jaskier is a little shit and when a little shit is the size of a castle, things get complicated.

"Fuck," he grunts.

From somewhere above him there's a happy purr and then his prison shifts. In the small slit between the wing and Jaskier's belly, Geralt can see one great blue eye, gazing at him happily.

His lips twitch.

"I can protect myself," he tries again. It's true, after all, and it's a bit...strange, being hidden away from danger like that. "Roach is vulnerable."

That makes Jaskier pause. Geralt just starts to hope that his lover will free him, but then his dragon shifts, his tail wraps around Geralt as the wings lifts and Roach walks closer, obedient like a lamb.

Geralt has no idea what the hell did Jaskier do to his horse, but the mare adores him, down to her hooves and mane. Geralt just knows that she loves the bard more than him.

It's the only reason why a smart horse would walk so close to the most apex predator around and then lay down with her side against his belly.

That seems to satisfy Jaskier, as he pushes Geralt against Roach, enclosing them in his wing again. A deep pur rises in his chest and Geralt rolls his eyes.

Jaskier doesn't do this often, but when they're on a particularly weird or dangerous ground, his dragon instincts take over and he tugs both Geralt and Roach under his wing, curling around them in his shifted form. He's big and barely fits in the clearing they choose, but he smells happy and content now.

And well, how can Geralt berate him for that? His lover always allows Geralt to express his own instincts, it'd be unfair of the Witcher to be angry now.

Besides, it's warm and comfortable and Jaskier's purring is almost as good as his singing. Being late to Kaer Morhen is worth moments like these.
