💪 What random skill are they weirdly proud of?
She's a half decent artist. It's something she does privately but takes pride in. Lots of late nights by herself sketching or tracing from books. It was something she had just for herself while growing up and that was really special to her. She particularly likes watercolors.
🔥 What’s something they’d burn the world down to protect?
Ashni has qualms about world burning in general --or rather her version of world burning would be more like "I have meticulously planned this and it's various outcomes." She burns with intention. 😂 But she was also super ready to fry Khaga into a pile of ash on the spot for Arabella. Nothing quite brings that impulse out of her like the mistreatment of children.
🖤 What’s a “villain” trait they actually possess?
Calculated cruelty. It doesn't come out much but it's a part of herself she actively fears. She went through a "if the world is always going to be cruel to me then I'll be cruel back" phase in her late teens and it was not a fun time. She's very observant and tends to know what would hurt someone. She became actively afraid of turning into her aunt (and also her father but her aunt was always the more openly cruel) and that's why she develops such a strong moral hardline. But like, the impulse and desire to be cruel to cruel people is very much there. She just recognizes that it is a slippery slope. There is a durge version of Ashni that lives in my brain and …yeah. She embraces that impulse way more.
🧸 What would their younger self think of them now?
Oh this actually makes me emotional. A mix between disbelief but also extraordinary relief. Like a massive weight coming off your shoulders. Baby Ashni never really expected to have her own life or a family that loved her. The idea that she's happily married with good friends and a life of her own would be pretty extraordinary.
🧸 Do they still have a childhood comfort object? Where is it now?
Not quite a comfort object but she has a silver bracelet that her mother gave her as a child. It has a little lightning charm. She can't wear it anymore because it's too small it but it lives in a special box on her bedroom mantel now. I think Gale eventually takes it to a fancy jeweler and gets it reset so she can wear it again.
