⚝⭒Creeps and Their Nationality⭒⚝
Honestly, it irritates me a bit that some people think everyone has to be connected to America (I have nothing against America or Americans!). I just think the world is broader and more interesting. A few… oh my god, a dozen or so years ago (I feel old…) a breath of fresh air in the fandom, in my opinion, was the news that Ticci Toby was from… Germany! I think this multiculturalism among the characters adds some diversity, a cool explanation for their lifestyle, and a fresh perspective, broadening the complexity of the presented universe without lumping everyone in. Of course, let's be clear - no need to force yourself to look for exotic origins. So let's talk today about where our Creeps might come from and what nationality they are.
!It's only my view. I apologize if I offended anyone; it's just my perspective! + Collages are mine, but photos from Pinterest!
If I'm referencing the original story and make a mistake please correct me. I last read it when I first joined the fandom, so… oh fuck, over 10 years ago? Never mind, just don't say that my age is too serious to write such things on the internet

Ticci Toby - since I mentioned him in the introduction, it's worth focusing on him first. As I've already noted, Toby comes from Germany. This isn't my invention, though I really like the idea. This information appears on many websites, including Villains Wiki, so I found it credible and worth preserving. Later, his parents moved to the United States. However, searching for sources, I couldn't find any information about the reasons for this decision. Nor was the specific state where they settled. However, I think - given their background and the nature of this family - they would have chosen a quiet, green region, far from large metropolises/ Therefore, I assume they might have emigrated to Wisconsin for several reasons. Primarily, it's a state with many German immigrants, which would have made it much easier for them to acclimate to their new country and retain at least some of their former identity. Additionally, Wisconsin evokes forests, greenery, and a peaceful natural settingc - a landscape very similar to what they knew from their homeland. The climate is also significant, being remarkably similar to Germany's, with distinct seasons and moderate temperatures. I also think they would choose a quiet town because of Toby's illnesses. Maybe his illness was also the reason for his departure? idk. This choice of location seems natural and fitting both for the plot and for Toby's character.

Slenderman - again, German, and again, not my idea, but so damn well executed that I simply had to write about him. In this case, I focused more on the canon. From what I've managed to uncover, it appears that his character is heavily inspired by German folklore, even though Slenderman himself was created by an American photographer.
The description of this creature from website about the character who inspired our creator Slenderman - ,, an extremely tall and thin, dark-clad man with a bald head devoid of a face (or any of its parts), sometimes with multiple arms and/or legs -at some point unexpectedly gained a second life. Just as he once did in the forests of Baden, so now in America, he was said to spy on children from the shadows and then attempt to catch them whenever they ventured into the forest or other remote area. His memory remains vivid today, as this figure from the forests has transformed into a hero of US urban legend known as The Slenderman. " ( Der Großmann website)
According to Wikipedia, Der Großmann is a figure from the folklore of the Black Forest region (the Black Forest is located in Germany), often associated with forest creatures, spirits, or mythical creatures. Stories about him were passed on by emigrants to North America, where they eventually took on a life of their own. (So, are we going to say that Slenderman is an immigrant? Okay, sorry - bad joke.) Regardless, it's a truly fascinating thread; I spent a lot of time reading and piecing together various sources.
So, by that logic, his brothers are also from Germany. But who the fuck inspired them to be who they are? I have no idea.

Kagekao - once again, we're dealing with canon. It's emphasized at every turn that KageKao is a Japanese demon. The term "Japanese demon" refers to traditional Japanese supernatural beings, or yōkai, but adapted to the contemporary horror context. I haven't found any information about the specific region of Japan where it supposedly originated. This likely stems from the fact that belief in yōkai is widespread in Japan and present throughout the country. However, there is a significant difference between individual regions - different prefectures have developed their own varieties of yōkai, which explain local phenomena and fears. In practice, this means that the same spirit can exist throughout Japan but be portrayed differently depending on the prefecture. One being, many interpretations - varying in appearance, behavior, or meaning. In this sense, the lack of a clear attribution of KageKao to a specific location is not a loophole, but a natural consequence of Japanese demonological tradition.

Masky - Tim's personality and style give me the vibe of a conservative Slav who grew up in a country emerging from communism. Is it just me? I think Russia would be too… stereotypical for him. I was aiming for Central Europe, ideally situated between the conservative West and the hints of the capitalist West. This region suits him because Masky seems introverted, valuing tradition and a certain order in life, but also curious about new things, balancing somewhat between the old and the new world, between caution and impulsiveness. His nature, in my opinion, also perfectly complements the atmosphere of small, peaceful Central European towns, surrounded by forests and peaceful spaces. The culture of this region could also explain certain traits of his - a strong attachment to traditional values and order, but also sometimes stereotypical behaviors, such as alcohol addiction or distrust of strangers. I think he could also be religious, which is also rooted in his background. Not necessarily practicing, just a believer with a medallion/cross around his neck. Not orthodox or anything. Masky seems to be someone who feels the weight of his country's past and history - a sort of generational trauma? A phenomenon that affects a fairly large percentage of people from Central European countries.

Hoodie - this might be controversial, but I like the headcanon idea that they're related. I don't know if brothers would be a good idea - maybe close cousins or very close friends would be better? Just similar enough to be emotionally connected, but physically and personality-wise different enough to be siblings. Following this line of thought, Hoodie also hails from Poland. Compared to Tim, he was more interested in the "colorful" West - countries full of life, diversity, and modern ideas. (I'm not making Poland out to be a dark land, because apparently the realities are a bit different now, but considering that in-universe they're well into their 20s/earlu 30s, they grew up in different conditions than they do now. Keep that in mind!). This is evident in his behavior: curiosity about the world, courage in action, but also a certain ease and improvisation that Tim lacks. Hoodie seems to be someone who sought a space to experiment and escape the rigidity of his family structure - something that perfectly explains his choices and way of navigating the world. Furthermore, the Polish culture he comes from could explain his contradictions: a tendency toward reflection and melancholy, yet simultaneously energetic and resourceful; a devotion to loved ones, yet a need for independence. This blend creates a character who is close to Masky in terms of background and certain values, yet naturally differs in personality and approach to life.

Jeff The Killer and Homicidal Liu - they are Americans. There's no point in guessing here - if I'm not mistaken, I think the pasta even mentions something about a small American neighborhoods? but maybe I'm just imagining things. Their relocation could have been from one state to another - maybe from Kentucky to Missouri or Illinois to Missouri, for example. Both are typical, temperate states located more or less in the center of the country, with small towns, forests and fields, and the typical quiet neighborhoods their parents wanted to live in.
⋆ ---––——––--- ⋆
Jane The Killer - her mother is from Canada, and her father is from the US, a dual citizen. I think she lived and grew up in New Hampshire - a typical northeastern state. Jane may have gone to a good school, and thanks to her and her family manners, she was associated with a slightly upper-class environment, which gives her that vibe: raised in a structured environment, with proper upbringing and manners. Why do I imagine she played golf, for example? I have no idea. A well-ordered life, which is later devastated by Jeff.
⋆ ---––——––--- ⋆
Nina The Killer - and the US too. I think she would have lived in Florida. Oh my god, I bet she was a celebrity-chasing teenager. I'd bet my life on that. She probably lived in the suburbs of some big city. No, Miami, no, but Orlando? A place where parks and tourist attractions were close, and she could still live a normal suburban life, going to school, hanging out with friends, and sneaking out to catch celebrity gossip. I imagine her family was relatively affluent, enough to have access to shopping malls, trendy coffee shops, and summer camps - the things that fuel a teenage obsession with fame and adventure. She would have had a group of friends who either tolerated her obsession or joined in, making suburban life seem like a small stage for her fixation. That's what gives it that atmosphere: teenagers with that typical crazy life, explaining why she's such a social butterfly and loves to live fast.

Eyeless Jack - I've seen the headcanon that he's from Canada many times, and I'm not even going to argue with that. TOTALLY YES. His calm demeanor and overall… oh my god, it suits him. Canadians were hardworking, peaceful, orderly, and polite. Even though it's a stereotype, do you see Jack in this? Because I do. I imagine him growing up in a Canadian town, where life moves at its own pace and people are polite but not nosy. This context perfectly suits his personality: introverted, quiet, observing everything from the sidelines, never standing out too much, yet inconspicuously present. He then leaves for a bigger city to study medicine - to British Columbia, one of the better medical schools in Canada. And since it's kind of a backwater, it suited his calm nature better. Surrounded by forests, where a cult later caught up with him. Nothing more, nothing less. I also imagine someone who would really like the climate in Canada, weather-wise, but I have no idea why.

Ben Drowned - at first I thought of England, but no. He's this little introverted kid, steeped in American pop culture and video games. I know you can "drown" anywhere, but I was thinking of a state with weather similar to England and a lot of rivers… like Oregon? That's how I picture it - rainy days where he'd spend hours playing video games, and then he'd get lost in one of those beautiful rivers. I could argue that one of his parents is English, but let's not be that weird.

Helen Otis - France. I think the northeastern region is more like it - somehow, I don't know, it suits his artistic soul. He likely dreamed of going to Italy, nearby, to study on an art scholarship, and spent nights studying the cultural life of France. He knew the Louvre exhibitions by heart, and in his notes, he could compare works from different eras, analyze styles and colors, absorbing every detail. This gives him the air of someone completely dedicated to art - sensitive, reflective, living in his own world of inspiration, but also aware of the cultural context in which he operates. The region of France where he grew up may also have influenced his aesthetic: the architecture, history, and artistic traditions, which later shaped his worldview and his work. Simply sensitivity to beauty and art.

Laughing Jack - England. He is a demon from 19th century London. There is no point in overinterpreting this here either. BUT. I found information that in Victorian England, urban legends and tales with a toy motif were very popular, warning people that if someone did something wrong to their, : there were stories about dolls, stuffed animals, and puppets that "came to life" and took revenge if someone hurt them.
