Tell me about In Other Worlds, both versions! (Or if you prefer one over the other, that works too!)
I’m so glad you asked about this one @sonderquill, cuz I love it, thanks for the ask!! <3
So this is one of the My Hero Academia headfics, and it takes place in the future where everyone are pro-heroes now. This will get a little complicated because it involves parallel worlds. Okay this got really long so I apologize but there are some Long story shorts that are bolded if you want to skip to those. Anyway here’s a really crappy overall plot line of it:
Takes place in the future (the students are all in their mid20’s now I guess)
Deku, Todoroki, and Bakugo are the top 3 heroes
There’s been a string of strange robberies by someone with an unknown quirk
they happen to be nearby when she strikes again
they all get hit by her quirk at the same time
Todoroki and Bakugo end up halfway across town with Iida, Uraraka, andKirishima and a bunch of other heroes fighting a completely differentvillain
everyone is very confused, even the villain dude
Iida is supposed to be working on a case 3 cities away,
they caught thisvillain two weeks ago,
the other heroescostumes all have a lot green on them??? which is just weird, because that’snot what their costumes look like.
Todoroki and Bakugo catch the villain easily, cause they knowthe weakness that Deku figured out
The other heroes are confused too,
when did they start working well together again?
why did they seem so confused?
Todoroki and Bakugo decide, screw this we need to get back to where they werefighting earlier, because where’s deku
get to the alley and, it’s perfectly fine
none of the damage they did earlier is there
ask where the heck deku is
Iida tells them he’s been dead for a year
Bakugo kinda shuts down (he’d picked up on the clues; all their outfits havingDeku’s green on them, the faces they made anytime they mentioned him… doesn’t want to believe it though)
Todoroki gets UPSET because that’s not possible. “We were with him half an hourago!!!”
finally Baku tells him to shut up, and reminds him that they got hit by the femalevillain’s quirk, and this probably isn’t real anyway
Iida doesn’t know what to do. brings them all to the policestation/agency
they try to figure out what’s going on
eventually someone makes the frustrated comment of “it’slike they’re not even from the same universe!”
Uraraka realizes she knows a way to check
said friend is the female villain they were fighting earlier
Bakugo nearly attacks her, barely restrained Todorki
She explains that her quirk is “Parallel”
she can send people from one universe to another for a short period of time
There’s a whole quantum physics there where atoms from different universe spin/vibrate/or something at different frequencies, so eventually things want to go back to where they belong)
people can only switch over if there is someone to switch with (so if someonewas never born or is dead in that other universe, they can’t be switched over)can’t have two of the same person in the same universe
she can also “see” into another universe (by connecting with one of her parallel self’s), and can pinpoint a specific universe if she touches something from that universe (the whole frequency thing again)
Meanwhile in original universe:
Todoroki and Bakugo show up and Deku is concerned obviously for his friends
Todoroki and Bakugo are shocked, because YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD
villain uses this time to escape
deku has to deal with them dealing with him
none of them know what’s going on
Bakugo actually attacks him thinking it’s a trick (they were fighting avillain, so this is probably some weird illusion)
deku tells him to knock it off and goes after female villain
He has to go back to dealing with them
Deku is concerned she messed with their memories (he doesn’t know why he wasn’t affected by the quirk)
Bakugo and Todoroki think it’s some weird dream
then there’s just maybe some fluff and angst of Todoroki and Bakugo talkingabout how deku is dead(in their world, not that they know how to say it thatway) and that’s it’s their fault
deku has to tell theit’s not their fault and they need to get their act together
Other pro-heores show up to their location, and they talkabout what’s happened, and go after her
they eventually catch her and learn the truth and put her injail
After a while Todoroki and Bakugo switch back
Bakugo punches deku for being weak enough to die in another universe
Long story Short of version A:
Todoroki and Bakugo get switched into a parallel universe where Deku is dead, and see what a world with out him would look like. And a different Todoroki and Bakugo get to spend some time in a world where he isn’t.
That’s version A. Version B is pretty much the same but I hate killing off characters (even in parallel worlds):
so it starts out the same way with Deku, Todoroki, and Bakugo all fighting the villain, and they all get hit with her quirk,
except when Todoroki and Bakugo show up in the otheruniverse they say that Deku is believed to be dead, because he’s been MIA for 6 months, and most evidence points to his death
again: anger and confusion
meet up with the good version female villain
tells them that “deku did cross over and the switched deku is in really poorshape”, which means this Todoroki and Bakugo’s Deku is somewhere in thisuniverse and in probably not good condition
Deku gets transported into some underground facility which is filled withvillains
breaks out of the weird containment tube thing he’s in
starts running around trying to find the way out, but he has absolutely no ideawhere he is right now (and really has no idea at all that he’s in a differentuniverse)
his cellphone doesn’t work
somehow managed to find a landline phone
tries calling T or B doesn’t work (their cellphones won’t take calls from thisuniverse due to the weird frequency thing)
(though he could call T and B with his cell phone but can’tbecause of the interference from the facility)
uses landline to call Iida or someone
said someone thinks it’s a prank until Todoroki and Bakugo and company showup with the newfound information that Deku’s alive somewhere
TRACK WHERE THAT CALL CAME FROM. CALL THE NUMBER BACK.WHY THE F$#* DIDNT YOU LISTEN TO HIM (that last one was kaachan)
then it becomes a scramble to find Deku/Deku trying toescape before everyone switches back over
Meanwhile in the other universe:
Todoroki, Bakugo and Deku all end up in the alley way
Todoroki and Bakugo freak at seeing the weakened state of deku
(He washeavily drugged to keep him comatosed, and has been kept in one of those stereotypicalscifi experiment tube things filled with water, for 6 months, so he’s not ingreat shape here)
(female villain disappears as they are all way too busy withDeku to even really notice her)
other heroes from that world show up
wonder what in the heck happened to deku
again everyone is confused
finally figure that it must have been the villain’s quirk again, but they stilldon’t understand what it does
shortly after some other heroes manage to catch her and they all find out thetruth
then it’s just trying to get Deku stable before they get switched back over
I haven’t decided how far the normal Deku gets, but I think he’d make it out/the others would find him before they switch back
Long story short of Version B:
Todoroki, Bakugo and Deku all get switched into a parallel universe, but Deku’s been missing for six months, because he’s actually held captive by villains. Todoroki and Bakugo have to find him, while Deku is working his own way out.
In the other universe, Todoroki and Bakugo have to deal with a Very Hurt Deku, while also having no idea how they got where they are.
So this version mostly deals with the rescue of Deku/Deku’s escape and the relief andfear at finding an alive Deku.
(the villain is actually the only reason that they’re able to find deku in the other world)
And there you have it, the summary to In Other Worlds. :)
THere also may or may not be a thing where Todoroki and Bakugo have a tracker on Deku, causing he’s always running off to help people with out telling them right away so they had to put a tracker on him in order to find him.
