A silly idea about Hearthian culture: The Campfire Jester
The Campfire Jester is a costume a Hearthian can wear during big celebrations. It's a costume made of scraps of fabrics.
To develop the role of the Jester:
Playing with Hatchlings; usually, hatchlings would run around the jester, trying to tug at the fabric, while the jester is trying to grab them. The costume is never washed, so it smells like mold and fire smoke, which is a reason why the hatchlings don't want to be grabbed
Making fun of the adults: the Jester is allowed to make fun of the people around the campfire, and the adults are allowed to fire back at the jester (as long as they don't reveal explicitly the jester's identity to the Hatchlings). It's not allowed to get too personal or violent. It's light hearted banter.
Sick acrobatic dance moves: if music is involved, the jester could start making various dance moves. It can be simple moves to make the fabric move around, to doing more dangerous stuff, like for example jumping over the fire. It's not uncommon for the costume to catch fire, which is also part of the fun.
While everyone can play the jester, some Hearthian are more used to it than others. I believe Feldspar would do it a lot before their disappearance, and Gabbro after that. Older Hearthians could play it, but would be less open to doing dangerous moves, while teenagers would love to make cool dance moves, but are less open to talk smack to the adults.

Before the time loop, Hal and the Hatchling worked together to decipher the Nomai language and test out their new translator. While wandering Timber Hearth, Hal found an interesting (and messy) Nomai tablet...
Lil Elbaite I made for my strawpage 💝
Holy shit I'm proud of this
a sketch based on ours with my friend rp, where Hal and Hatchy collect giant snail eggs in a swamp and then get covered in mud because they can't get out of a ravine on a clay slope
finished the little tart baby
