In situations like this, I know I'm the adult. I need to keep my own frustration in check, even though the circumstances force me to set aside my back and be insulated. If you think about it, our lives allow nearly zero down time. This is a huge shift even between the childhood I remember and the one myself had. There's no relaxation, boredom, or stillness that allows the body to relax and the nervous system to calm down. In other words, our tech- and info-driven busyness doesn't let our brains recharge in their alpha state, the relaxed-but-alert frequency in the brain we often sense just before we fall asleep. Meditation, or the practice of self-awareness in body and mind, has been revered for thousands of years as a natural, accessible way to regulate our reaction to stress and manifest good health. When presented with any kind of threat, humans are hardwired to fight, take flight, or freeze. Meditation can help kids read and respond to internal signals of stress before their developing brains and bodies give in to a full-blown tantrum. The key is intuiting what your child needs to come back into balance and giving him or her the tools to practice. Introducing meditation to the children in slum is something now, I really feel so much happy because at first time they were like I can't close my eyes or I can't feel anything but now they are improving and even also loving it ooooh wow that's awesome. #Share #Like #Donate https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-okurut-george-and-family @narendramodi @narendramodijiindia @ministryofhealth_uganda @educsportsug @ministryofayush @vicepresidentofindia @songsofeden @maltehagemeister @ludacris @willsmith @oprah @cnnafrica @yogainspiration #YogaJournal #heartofdance #communutyyoga #yogahomepractice #yogaforeveryoga #yogalifestyle #yogaheals #yogastrength #yogachallenge #yogaflow #kidsyoga #slumyoga #LivingEnlightenment #motivation #peaceofmind #healthyliving #travelling #mindfulness #yogalife #yogaeverywhere #meditation (at Kampala, Uganda) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGwWiFwA3mj/?igshid=1luz8lzlaqs8x
I'm so excited that since I have been sick and but on my feet, I had to finish up the choreography by @time2swing, on the well known song #Choo Choo Ch'Boogie featuring Miss Tammie @miss_tammisavoy and one of the best bands @alpharhythmkings also in the video they featured @laswingdanceposse. Now I tell you that Uganda 🇺🇬 children has done the cover video on the song and I know all the swingers and lindyhoppers will love it. Much love to the children of #heartofdanceafricarythms for joining me on this song and always inspiring other communities to feel the love of Swing Dance. I'm the slum, what else do you want to know! Just know that this Pandemic left everyone questioning himself or herself, what next if the country opens everything. 90% of the people leaving in the slums of Uganda 🇺🇬 are affected after losing their jobs as they work on daily basis work for survival. Sometimes I sit and question myself that is this the world of technology, we are in now because I see us going to controlled type of living, where we don't have voice for ourselves but they will decide for us. This is the moment, we need to build a strong bond of togetherness and supportive kind of life through sharing out love and peace 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. Here I request you to take your time to spare your small coin and donate it on the gofundme page below here so that I can be able to support myself, family and friends surrounding my environment. Remember that each donation counts no matter how much small it is ok. #Share #Like #Donate https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-okurut-george-and-family Here is the online link for you to read if you can't get the newspaper. https://www.sqoop.co.ug/202007/four-one-one/transforming-lives-with-yoga-and-dance.html #YogaJournal #heartofdance #communutyyoga #yogahomepractice #yogaforeveryoga #yogalifestyle #yogaheals #yogastrength #yogachallenge #yogaflow #kidsyoga #slumyoga #LivingEnlightenment #motivation #peaceofmind #healthyliving #travelling #mindfulness #yogalife #yogaeverywhere #meditation (at Banda Acholi Quarters) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE7fFSCl7hI/?igshid=7fg9mm44pwea
Breath and Asana Biologically When focusing on the breath during our asana practice, the control of the breath shifts from the brain stem (medulla oblongata) to the cerebral cortex (evolved part of the brain) due to us being aware of the breath. It’s in that moment, when we are aware, when the magic starts to happen. The mind will become quieter and a calm awareness arises. Emotionally and energetically As a result emotional stress and random thoughts are less likely to occur. So basically the whole system gets a break. The energy, the prana, begins to flow more freely pushing through any emotional and physical blockages and thus freeing the body and mind. Which results in the “feel good” effect after a yoga practice. So we can safely say that breath has an intimate relationship to the overall movement of prana (life energy) throughout the entire body. Physically In our physical practice breath also has everything to do with our structural alignment and the patterns in which we hold, perceive and move the body. Breath awareness can eliminate joint compression and other imbalances from one’s postures and attitudes. Awareness of breath is also the foundation for flowing seamlessly in movement through an Ashtanga Vinyasa practice. Breath and mind If you have practised some serious meditation you will have noticed and seen that when the breath moves, the mind moves as well. Of course, this works both ways so as the mind moves, the breath moves too. This basically means that the breath gives us a tool with which we can explore the subtler structures of our mental and emotional worlds. When the breath changes. We are back again and let's talk about dance and why we should dance always, I know people are asking themselves. Why am I dancing with during this covid19 situation anyway if you are in Uganda 🇺🇬 then you will understand what I mean exactly anyway let's get to the point of of dance. Dance offers a new perspective to view the world. So much of our thinking is done with words. Social justice movements organize around reclaiming language, redefining words, creating vocabulary. We read, write, text, call and speak every day. But not everyone's brain works best with linguistics, and even those who excel at language have trouble communicating in different cultures or expressing something that linguistics can't do justice. Dance can bridge this gap. Steps conveyed on stage can embody and transmit feelings to the audience, producing an incredible intimacy that takes ages to build in daily relationships. The guardedness and baggage around language (proper grammar, politically correct speech, different vocabularies) fall away when we communicate with movement. Ideas are shared that may be difficult to articulate, but are deeply understood. Come and we dance with kids of Heart of Dance Rythm always and together we can put a smile on their faces always.
