Since his parents were elders, he found himself without any family when he was only 23 moons old. To make matters worse, he dislikes his fellow medicine cats and takes little interest in anyone in the clan.
That is, until Lupo and Sandyseed became mates and started targeting him with their mischief. He claims to find them obnoxious, but secretly enjoys being involved in their antics.
Although Finquiver had been his rival since they were both in the nursery, he gradually found himself becoming attracted to the warrior. After many one on one herb collecting patrols, Heavyfoot finally found the courage to ask Finquiver to become his mate.
The pair went on to have a strong and loving relationship, raising three litters of kits together and mourning those they lost over the years. Heavyfoot worked tirelessly to keep his cheerful mate in good spirits and good health, and was proud of the prominent role they each held in the clan.
Heavyfoot also became Reefstar's most trusted medicine cat, and he personally over saw his leader's mental health treatment. Although not all of his methods may have been perfectly sound, thyme not being readily available year round, he was consistently able to quell Reefstar's anxieties through one method or another.
When Finquiver's time to join Starclan finally arrived, Heavyfoot lay next to his motionless mate in their nest for a long time. He felt himself grow weary almost immediately. The years of work had finally caught up to him without the familiar jokes and warm affection that usually soothed him.
When his clanmates eventually had to take Finquiver's body away, Heavyfoot could not bring himself to return to his nest. He tried to sleep in the elders' den, but there was no comfort there. There was no warmth, and the cold weather was not the only reason. He felt warmth at the entrance to the den instead, and then at the camp entrance, and then in the darkness of the moonlit dunes. There, finally was his mate. Shining with stars and waiting for him, Finquiver purred as he welcomed his mate to rejoin all of their lost kin.
