Do you have any headcanons about what Kazu is doing post yyh? Like college or job, is he with Yukina, has kids, etc.? My personal headcanon is that he became a lawyer (I liked that Yusuke told him to become a doctor or lawyer right before he left for demon world 😌) and he’s the one demons call when they get into a legal trouble with spirit world, although he mainly works with humans lol.
Honestly, my only really true headcanon about Kazuma is doing post YYH is that he definitely goes to college and he succeeds at it. He was so determined and dedicated in the series and then he even went to a feeder high school to make sure he has a better chance to get into the university of his choice. I definitely think he would work hard to make sure he did the best he could to get into Gai Tech.
As for his occupation, I think this is where the fun happens and I love seeing it explored that I haven’t had a steadfast like “yes/no” headcanon about it. I’ve seen him as a teacher, as a practicing psychic (kind of like Genkai, teaching others), as a vet, as a doctor, as an architect, as a policeman, even a salaryman (which is just the Japanese term for him being a 9 to 5 corporate worker), and each of these never seemed “wrong” or “off” to me.
I really do like your idea of him being a lawyer though! To me, regardless of what he does in whatever I read him in, he has to be happy and fulfilled at it. He may have a job temporarily that’ll pay the bills (say to pay off for college) but he has to be happy at what he’s doing career-wise, and it has to at least not conflict with his moral code. Kazuma is not the type to do anything not true to himself in the long run unless it’s to help save someone else. He’d rather sacrifice his life first before going that route.
Now, I do think that he does help out with Yusuke in Yusuke’s private investigative business post-series. I’ve seen him written as a very active participant, and in some where he’s only called in for big cases, but I do think he’d be involved in some way. Yusuke is too much of a friend and also someone he’s gone through a lot together to not help him out.
(I could talk a bit about how he would be as a father and kids, but that would make this post really really long lmao. I have a few feelings about his father Jiro, some good, and some not so good so lmao)
Thank you for this ask and being the first! I would happily love hearing more about him as a lawyer. What made him pursue law? Does he work on his own, for the government; does he have his own firm? Does he even have international clients (and knows other languages)?
