Look, nothing wrong with liking it, but by no stretch of the imagination is that thing leftist. It calls the evil aliens "fascists" sure, but it still centers around appealing to our tribalist thinking and uniting everyone against a common enemy.
A lot of "leftist" media does this and I understand, it is more comforting to have inhuman creatures who want us dead (lets ignore the bigotry inherent in that trope, especially the racism) than it is to have a group of people, like you and I, who want to use, exploit and weaponize the people around them to live a life of luxury, but if you want to enjoy leftist media, If you want to make leftist media, then you need to confront these ideas.
