Bees are genetically designed to recognize royalty
and other nuggets of wisdom from Jupiter Ascending
[ID: A parody of the Critical Role art of the character Jester saying "hello bees!" Against a black background, the chibi-style head of Laudna smiles with a wide open mouth, her brow furrowed and her eyes squinched shut in amusement. Laudna is an undead character with gray skin and black and white hair, some strands falling around her face, most up in a bun, with a small miner's pick-hammer stuck in her hair. She has pointy gold caps on the tops of her ears with loops of chains connecting to earrings. Limned in a dark purple glow, approximately two dozen bees swarm out of her mouth. The bees are a sickly green, with glowing red eyes. (The three largest/closest bees are traced from the original art.) Bright red limned black text next to Laudna's head, behind the bees, reads "Hella bees!" /end ID]

So Jason Statham's oeuvre* tends to be what I call "airplane movies". The ones you watch because you're half brain-dead from sitting in a giant tin can for multiple hours. I have fond memories of watching The Transporter on a flight back from the Netherlands. (Unfortunately I was not on a plane when I watched Hobbes and Shaw, which is very bad.)
There is a new movie of his called The Beekeeper.
I legit could not stop laughing. Not just because this is the most ridiculous thing ever, but because I thought the title was referring to some sort of AU**.
Beekeeping is a very pastoral sort of occupation, cottagecore without the fascism. Less physically taxing than farming (even a hobby farm is a lot of work). It's caretaking but not in a way that's associated with femininity even though the most important bees are female. (Do worker bees really have a sex? They don't reproduce.)
Anyways. I need to get high off my ass and watch this because it looks entertainingly terrible.

* To my knowledge the only movies that do not fit this are Spy and the two early Guy Ritchie movies he was in, back when Guy Ritchie was actually good.
** There is a blog post about the sorts of professions that pop up in fandom AUs and what it says about wish fulfillment for our blorbos.
Ashley is here!!
HELLO, BEES!!
