Âkminrûk zu! Mukhuh turgizu turug usgin!
Hello :) I've noticed that you have assisted people in the past with Khuzdul translations and was wondering if you could help me? I wish to know how I would translate 'Not all those who wander are lost', and I understand you most likely won't be able to get a literal translation, but anything would be a great help :) Thanks for your time.
Well this was a fun one. Here’s what my notes look like so far:
kundimâlh - travellers
udùnin - map
-âl - searcher
sakhab - to look
ukùndim - adventure
ukùndîm - to travel
umkhûh - to find
arukh - need
zirikh - want
ku - all
Khuzdul nouns also have a seperate collective form, it is used as an alternative plural to indicate “all". The collective (C) formdiffers from it’s standard plural (SP) as it indicates “all", instead of being specific (like in plural). Example: “Records are detailed" (uses collective form) / “I want 2 records" (uses standard plural form). Nouns that end with "-ûn" generaly have a collective form. The easiest way to find the difference between both forms is seeing if there is any quantity indicated (if so it uses standard plural form). Standard plural can also indicate “a few", while collective will always indicate “all". The affix “ma-" is an affixed form of theword “sul" - meaning “all" (maku = all who (anyone)
Not all those who wander are lost.
Not all who travel want a map.
maku ma kundimâlh zirikhizd udùnin
(all who)(not/negative Place in front of the verb, or behind the noun. When an interjection (no!), the word “lu’" is used)(travellers)(imperfect tense - (they)want)(map)
Just changed my URL for the first time, I don't know how I feel about this. I was so attached to my previous one. WHY DID I DO THIS????
