Hello to everyone reading this, I want to explain what happened today, which has me completely confused and devastated 😭😭 My account was stolen; I was literally SCAMMED.
I can't even begin to describe how anxious, helpless, and especially sad I feel because I was just starting something slow on my newly created account. It's UNFAIR that people can do these things and get away with it.
I was probably just starting out; the only things I posted were an edit and a drawing I made myself. I had a fanfic in drafts that I wanted to upload to both Tumblr and Ao3, but I don't feel so confident anymore after this.
Around 1:59 p.m. today, I received a message from someone wanting to talk to me. This person told me they wanted to talk to me. They said they needed my help because they reported my account along with others, believing I was the one who had scammed them (they didn't even tell me who had actually scammed them or how, nor did they apologize). It turned out to be a misunderstanding. They tried to tell support, and they said I had to do who-knows-what to prevent my account from being deleted and my IP address blocked.
Here are the screenshots: (I don't really understand Tumblr and I can't put the screenshots below this text, I'll have to put everything at the bottom)
When I went to Discord, I spoke with the person mentioned who is "part" of Tumblr support, and I ended up terrified. I want to cry because I'm not even from the United States, and I would never dare to scam anyone or anything like that. It was so surreal.
The person told me I should change my password to: Tumblrdatabase08 and leave it so they could investigate the matter further. That's when they arrived and said I had about 29 reports against me since I created the account, specifically for fraud and I don't know what else. The worst part was when they started saying they were going to sue me if I didn't pay the $250 (I told them I didn't have the money, and they kept threatening to take me to court in 1-2 days. I'm terrified).
I explained that I have absolutely no money (something to mention: a week and a half ago, someone tried to get me to ask for a commission, and I specifically told them that I have no money at the moment. They asked me, "Why?" and I replied that it's clearly because I have expenses related to my pets. The person said something strange; I'm sending a screenshot now.
Here's the thing. I messaged the support person saying that I didn't have any money and asking why I wasn't talking to those people because THEY SAID IT WAS A MISTAKE. Did they reply? No. I had to contact support, and in the end, they sent me an article saying that scams claiming you were reported by mistake are common, and that's exactly what happened to me.
I hope you can share this and not fall into traps like I did 😭😭
Now, here are the screenshots in order:
The second post is on my profile; it won't let me upload any more images.
