fun fact: Sei’s dad Qaidiao is older than Jue’s mum and Raiqiongshē but was passed over for the thrones because of his disability. (Which doesn’t bother him or affect all his actions to this day why do you ask.) The general feeling is that Jue shouldn’t have inherited either, for the same reason, but because Haishionā died with no other children ze was her heir by default (which is why Henor killed her in the first place- to secure Jue’s place so ze couldn’t be passed over in favour of any other kids Haishionā might have)

Haishionā was killed by Henor when Jue was ~1 to ensure Jue’s future, because if Haishionā had another child they would likely replace Jue as heir due to Jue’s disability (and might not even be Henor’s, since she was also married to Serip). Henor was executed for killing Haishionā. Serip died a year or two later, possibly of natural illness and possibly of slow poisoning by Raiqiongshē to consolidate power (Jue will say it was illness because Raiqiongshē would never have done that to Jue’s father, and Halek will say it was poisoning because that’s what royalty does, and since the true answer isn’t relevant it doesn’t get revealed either way)

important note on Jue's parents is that it was a political assassination kind of situation rather than an escalating domestic abuse kind of situation. which I realized might not be super clear in some of the posts I've made about it. so. clarifying that

Jue would not have been present at hir father’s execution- hir stepfather Serip was still alive at that point and would have been hir guardian and regent while he was alive and would have overruled any suggestion that Jue should be present. (<- Jue’s father killed hir mother so it would be considered to be a crime against hir as well. But Serip would have said “we are not bringing my one-year-old son to [hir] father’s execution. No debate.”)
