SUMMARY → After nearly a year of trying to break into the hospital wing to see Henry when he gets hurt, Ryder finally succeeds only to find Henry wasn’t there at all. The next morning, he finally confronts his friend about his months and months of lying.
Ryder Lynn:
Ryder felt like he hadn’t slept at all last night; his head was still spinning from the things that he couldn’t understand. The past year had certainly had a lot of disappointments, but he’d never expected one of those things to be his best mate lying to him. Yet for almost a year now, Ryder had been worrying about Henry every time he landed himself in the hospital wing, and last night he’d finally managed to sneak in to see his best mate… Except he wasn’t there.
Henry looked haggard when he stumbled into History that Wednesday morning, but if he was so damn sick, why hadn’t he been in the Hospital Wong like he’d said? Where was he? What was he doing? And why wasn’t he telling Ryder the truth? Wasn’t that something that best bros were supposed to do? Sure, there were things about Ryder’s life Henry didn’t know, but they were things from the past, not things that were actively affecting him now. It didn’t add up in his head, and the hurt had Ryder turning his back on Henry all through their double lessons that morning.
When the bell rang to signal double History of Magic was over, Ryder had nearly reached his breaking point. Sitting beside Henry for tan entire class period and pretending that everything was just fine when it was anything but had his stomach twisted into knots, and Ryder didn’t think he’d be able to eat lunch even if he did follow the rest of his classmates into the Great Hall now. Instead, though, he reached out and grabbed Henry in the crowd, dragging him forcefully into an empty classroom on their way and closing the door behind them. Ryder folded his arms over his chest, trying to keep from seething as he blocked the door and demanded, “Where were you last night?”

Kitty: Oh come on, going with Junior wouldn't be that bad. I'm sure he's a better dance than Finn, and those Snickerdoodles he made me before Christmas were pretty good. Well, you will be sorely disappointed to find out that Piers is going with the beautiful Rose Weasley than.
Kitty: How he landed her and Gracie with that face, I'll never understand.
