Yes, there was once a restaurant called the FRIGID QUEEN in tiny Herington, Kansas. I made my sister and our friend pose in front of this road sign way back in 1990.
A typical midwestern scene -- Rock Island mail train No. 39 with a single coach on the rear leaves Herington, Kansas on May 31, 1965 to continue its run to Tucumcari, N.M. to be handed over to the S.P. (and on to Calif.). FP-7 409 will get a rest there overnight while it waits for eastbound counterpart No. 40 to arrive. The pair of trains used to be named "Imperial" but the name was quietly dropped from the timetables. Doubtlessly after the Memorial Day weekend, some rancher will be glad to get his new John Deere implement. After merger with the S.P., the stone depot at Herington did not survive.
You wouldn’t know it to see it today, but Train 39, westbound near Herington, Kansas, was once the Imperial, a secondary but important passenger run between Chicago and Southern California. But on October 11, 1965, it’s just a miscellany of mail and express cars with an SP rider coach (note Daylight scheme) tacked onto the rear. Even so, FP7A 405 is geared to run easily at 65 mph, so 39 is making good time.
"This was completely and solely fabricated by a Herington police officer no longer employed with the agency," the police chief said Monday.
Why do something like this. This coulda created a lot of issues for those innocent workers and why was his name protected.? And why would the police chief blast this on facebook before doing an investigation. That restaurant recieved threats. So fucked up.🤔
