but barok and herlock are always quick to jump to your defense and stand their ground, making it clear that they won't tolerate anyone losing even a single bad word about you!

the three of you don't spend a lot of time together. usually you're just with herlock OR barok, rarely both of them. the only exceptions are at court, when herlock has to testify and barok has to deal with his antics…

the two men get along, but if it wasn't for you, they probably wouldn't be very close. you are what gives them a reason to spend time together and they slowly form a sort of friendship because of you

both men are a little jealous of each other, but are mature enough to not act on that jealousy. they might have those feelings, but they'll simply ignore them, in favour of having a peaceful time with you

Sick Herlock is More of a Menace than Normal

G/N reader, pre-established relationship, and Herlock being a menace for attention and affection while completely congested. Let's say the man came down with a cold, because he dashed out of 221b without his coat and hat, likely due to some realization, and needing to act on it, like the hyperactive child he is. When he came back, hours later, he was soaked to the skin, fluffy hair laid flat on his face. You can't help but snort at the man, as he wrings his hair out, grumbling something about your amusement.

The next day, when you woke to make breakfast for Herlock and Iris, he was still in bed. Odd. Normally, the man would wake up before you, to start his work, but today, he was still in bed with you, and...breathing out of his mouth. He was sick. When the man eventually woke, an hour after you woke, and while Iris was eating her breakfast, the great detective shuffled out of your room, in his bathrobe, looking miserable.

"Are you doing alright, darling? You look a little...unwell." You make a small jab at his state. Herlock huffed, sniffling as he sat down for breakfast, wrapping his hands around the mug of coffee you hand him, savoring the heat still coming from it.

"Don't you dare say 'I told you so'." His voice was low, and gravelly, due to being congested, but you cracked a smile, hiding it as you were doing the dishes.

"I wouldn't dream of it, Hurley." But having the man home for the day was more of an issue than you would think. Because instead of him being resigned to his workstation, he was plastered to your side, against your back, as close as he could get. While you were cleaning, he was shuffling right behind you, arms wrapped around your waist, head on your shoulder.

When you were ready to head out to do errands, the detective was splayed out on the couch, still in his fuzzy pink robe, lamenting how "I might die if you leave me, my dear," but you rolled your eyes, pulling your coat around your shoulders. "You will be fine, Hurley, I'll come home with ingredients for soup, and medicine for you."

hello anon, thank your kind words! i hope you’re well! this is a little short because i ran out of ideas at the end lol :,) but i hope it’s okay anyway!

Herlock is obviously concerned about you — he cares about your health and how it’s affecting you! He wants to help you in the best way he can.

Using his amazing deductive abilities, he deduces that the source of your problems — your sleep schedule…?

He’ll try to encourage you to sleep earlier. If you have trouble falling asleep, he’ll do the best he can to serve you! Need a hot drink (like hot chocolate or hot milk)? He’ll make something right away! Want to cuddle before bed… or cuddle til you’re asleep? No problem, he likes to hold you anyway!

He may or may not tease you ever so slightly on your zoning out, but if that makes you uncomfortable or hurts your feelings in any form, he will stop immediately.

Whenever you do zone out, he’ll try to get you back alert. If he can’t, he’ll move you away from danger, if zoning out brings you in any danger in the first place. He’s aware of the surroundings, mainly out of concern for you.

Sometimes you find yourself wearing a hat or an odd accessory when you’re aware of your surroundings (etc) again. Then, he appears, stating that “We’re matching.” with the goofiest grin, and another matching accessory. You don’t know where or how he keeps finding so many matching items.

If people are being a little… improper to you, due to your zoning out or sleep deprivation, he will defend you. He gets unnaturally serious for a moment, becuase he genuinely thinks that your zoning out shouldn’t impact others opinions on you, as a person. You’re just as amazing as the others — just a little tired.

herlock watched, as you entered his home and went straight for the couch, dramatically letting yourself fall onto it. a small chuckle escaped his lips, before getting up and sitting down next to you, gently patting your head.

“i'm so tired…” you whine softly, quickly cuddling up against herlock, as you felt him near.

“don't worry, you're home now, dear.” herlock hummed, pressing a kiss onto your head, while stroking your hair. “you can rest for as long as you want. i'll take care of everything for the day, so just sleep a little, alright?”

herlock is so extravagant that it's hard for him to keep anything a secret! he's more so the type to shout his feelings out to the world, so even as your secret admirer, it's not much of a secret

you'll know that you have a secret admirer from the moment herlock catches feelings for you! it barely takes him any time to send the first love letter along your way, making you aware of your secret admirer

but herlock isn't stupid! he can very well falsify handwriting or use a different vocabulary from his usual one, to hide his identity in the letters!

however, there's always the chance that he doesn't want to truly hide his identity! maybe he wants you to figure out he's the one sending you those secret love letters!

either way, be prepared to receive a couple of those love letters per week! because despite his busy work schedule, herlock will find time to write to you!

not just because he cares about you and makes you a priority, but because he enjoys this little game and is eagerly awaiting the moment you realize he is your secret admirer!
