Sleeves rolled up and bucket in your hands, you walk down the long corridor of the shrine, the sun beating down on you. Your skin heats up quickly, yet it doesn't bother you. No, it can't bother you. You have your daily duty to complete, a little bit of heat cannot stop you now.
Your sandals click against the ground, echoing down the halls and around the courtyard. Every day, it was your job to collect water from the well to help water the plants within the shrine. From afar, it looked like a simple task. The difficult part of it all was carrying the bucket full of water back into the shrine. You sigh as you already feel your arm muscles begin to cramp up. You haven't even made it to the well yet!
As you walk away from the main part of the shrine, a grunting sound captures your attention.
That's new, you think curiously. You look at the path in front of you, the same path you've walked for who knows how long, everyday. Then you look towards the direction of the grunting, curiosity settling in you. Well, a little detour wouldn't hurt anyone, right?
You take a quick look around your surroundings to make sure no one was watching you before breaking your routine and following this new sound. As you grow closer, the grunting slowly becomes louder and clearer. Just as you near the corner, you just slightly peak your head over to see what's making all this noise.
Your eyes slightly widen at the figure a bit away from you.
Kazuma.
He was Bishamonten's newest shinki, just joining the family not too long ago. You haven't really spoken to him much seeing as you both have very different roles within the shrine. Your master had taken a liking to him too, having him by her side despite some of the other shinkis disapproving looks.
You remember when you used to be by Bishamonten's side. You quickly shake your head, pushing aside an unknown feeling growing in you. You didn't want to think about those times.
As you focus back on Kazuma, you realize he must be practicing something. The longer you look, you see he's actually trying to form a border! You chuckle a little as he's barely able to form one against a rabbit. The sound seems to snap Kazuma out of his concentrated state, swinging around to see you watching him. You can see his face begin to turn red, probably embarrassed at being caught doing something he isn't skilled at yet. He gives you an awkward bow which causes you to smile.
Cute.
You put the bucket you were holding down and made your way to the boy, clapping and cheering for him as he grows even more embarrassed.
"You're doing quite excellent Kazuma! You'll get your borderline down in no time!" His eye widen and he instantly grows flustered at your praise.
"Ah no! I can barely form one, even against a rabbit..." He chuckles awkwardly, wiping his forehead from the sweat as he looks down at the animal that was busy eating the grass.
"Don't be so harsh on yourself Kazuma. Not many of the shinkis willingly practice forming strong borders. You're putting in more effort than a lot of them would." You smile wistfully at the rabbit, watching it walk to a less patchier spot on the ground to continue eating.
He hums in response, his eyes slowly making his way to your figure. He can't remember if he's seen you around the shrine before. After all, there's so many of them, it's a little difficult to keep track of everyone.
His eyes trace over your features, over the slope of your nose, the curve of your cheeks, the shape of your eyes. Not many shinki have willingly spoken to him, so he decides that he will remember the one that did speak to him. When you meet his eyes, his eyes grew wide with realization.
"Oh, please don't take any offense to this, but may I ask what your name is?" Kazuma internally cringes at his words. He should have asked you this to begin with! He knows you don't mind, though, as you smile at him with kind eyes.
"My name is Y/N, it's a pleasure to finally meet you Kazuma." You bow down slightly and he follows suit. You can see he feels more at ease as his shoulders fall into a more relaxed position.
"So, how have you been adjusting to the shrine? I'm sure you might find everything a little, uh, chaotic." You laugh out, slightly bumping his shoulders teasingly.
"Chaotic is a slight understatement." Kazuma mumbles out before straightening up.
"Bishamonten has been extremely welcoming to me. She's very patient with me as well, so I'm grateful for that." He smiles at the thought.
You nod in agreement. Despite being fierce on the battlefield, your master was a very kind god. She had taken many shinki under her wing, creating a large family that she truly did adore and care for.
"As for everyone else, it has been a little more difficult adjusting to things, considering my vessel form is highly disliked amongst some of them." You look at him with sympathy as you understand his struggles. Any unusual vessel form was often looked down by many of the older shinki. But you could see in his face that this only made him more determined to prove them wrong.
"They'll warm up to you eventually. Some are just a little jealous you get to be close to the master with how recently she claimed you. Bishamonten used to use me often back then too, so I understand where you're coming from." You hoped what you said comforted him at least a little. You saw him look back at you with surprise.
"She used to use you? Did you fight along side her?" Kazuma looked at you with the same curiosity you felt earlier. Before you could wallow in your slip up, someone had called your name from behind you both.
"Y/N! What do you think you're doing?! Come here at once and fill this bucket with water right now! The plants will surely die under your care," yelled out the head of the shinki. You sighed and turned around ready to walk back to fulfill your daily duty. But before you left, you chose to tease Kazuma one last time.
"Well, keep on practicing Kazuma. Maybe you'll be able to form a barrier just like mine soon!" And with that, he watched as you swiped your index and middle fingers together in a line, a large borderline instantly forming in front of him.
He stumbled backwards from the sheer force of it, watching in awe and shock as your barrier caused the rabbit to scurry off into the distance in fright. He could hear you giggling off into the distance, catching one last glimpse of you getting hit by the head shinki's towel and running off to who knows where. She looked back at the green eyed boy in distaste before walking away and leaving him by himself once again.
He looked back to the barrier in front of him, walking forwards and pressing his hands against the wall. The border lasted a few minutes before disappearing, just like you had.
It was then that Kazuma swore he would become just as strong as you. Maybe learn more from you if you caught walking around the shrine. He hoped he would see you again soon, his face slightly heating up as he remembered the sound of your laugh.

It was a lovely day. The decoration for the event created a romantic atmosphere. The people were all looking happy. The father and mother were looking the brightest, wishing for all the blessings and happiness for their daughter's future.
This was the day she has been waiting for since she was a child. The daughter was glowing with happiness with a bright smile greeting the guests with her husband. The marriage ceremony was over but the day was still as busy as a festival.
"You look beautiful," he said looking down at her.
A blush spread on her face along with a shy smile. "You've said it before."
"Yeah, but I can't take my eyes off of you," he held her hand and pulled her closer.
"My parents are watching," she chuckled and pushed him back lightly, She placed a kiss on his cheek and excused herself, greeting the newly arriving guests.
"Hey," Y/N called the guy wearing a suit, looking a bit tipsy. "Are you...okay?"
okay, I'll leave now.
remember me in your prayers,
keep the taste of my mention
on your tongue...
He turned around and looked at her face. This face that he hasn't been able to forget for a long time now. "Name's Yato if you have forgotten me," he said.
"I-I didn't forget you. Where's...the others?"
"I don't know. Yukino was here. I don't know where he went," he said ordering up another drink.
"Are you sure you wanna take that?" she asked, looking at him with concerned eyes.
Her eyes.
He remembered back when his little pranks got him into trouble and Y/N had to hear his name multiple times from different kinds of people. All of them were complaints. But he knew he had a home to go back to. Where there was someone to scold him, someone to fight but also someone who would be there to love him and believe in him even when he didn't. Her eyes expressed way more than her actions did.
"I hate you for real. I would leave your ass someday and you'll see," she used to say. But he knew what she meant. Her eyes full of adoration would always give her away.
Those eyes, he was carelessly avoiding when he found out about her feelings. He only wished to turn back time. But some things are out of hands...even for gods.
keep my good deeds
in the boxes of the heart,
and keep my greetings
even in letters and telegrams.
"Hey...I just don't see you anymore. Is...everything okay?" Y/N texted him one day, after getting excuses from him for a whole week.
It was after Kofuku pointed out her expression to Yato. How her whole demeanor changed when she talked to him. The softness of her gestures and love dripped off her voice. She didn't mean to make them go distant. Hiyori just entered their lives a few weeks ago and Kofuku noticed the amount of time Yato dedicated to her instead of the girl who has been there for him for almost two years now. In a way, she pitied Y/N and decided to push the boy and make him take the first step.
Instead, he took two steps back and avoided her and these feelings he had...for a human. He knew her, and how she was. A part of him felt happy that she was still reaching out to him. But he couldn't risk getting feelings for a human.
Over and over, he told himself that this was what he wanted and this was for her own good. But it still sucked to watch her wait for hours that day. He shouldn't have done that. Not on her birthday.
I have taken your darkness,
and my bright shining star is yours now.
O my moon,
O my, my moon,
O my beloved moon,
O beloved.
Y/N wasn't stupid either. She was well aware of how much time Hiyori and Yato spent together. It wasn't like she absolutely hated her though. Instead, she was actually glad to have another human in their mess. Someone who would understand her part. But the closeness that she had with him. Y/N envied her a lot on that ground. That girl appeared and he immediately stopped visiting her. It took a week for him to toss her aside.
As if she was some kind of parasite that he got rid of. Her phone that used to vibrate a lot earlier for receiving tons of messages from Yato turned silent these days. But she still had some expectations. He..wasn't that insensitive right?
Her guess turned out to be wrong. Her mood was on the top when she received a message from Yato on her birthday, asking her to meet somewhere near a coffee shop. He was never the kind to call her in a place like that. Somewhere the prices of coffee were so unreasonable. But he did something different this time and she was excited. She dressed up pretty, applied some light makeup, and arrived there ten minutes earlier.
And she waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Until finally she realized looking at her table and the six emptied cups of coffee, that it was time. She waited for two hours, getting pitied looks from the cashier and waitress. She wondered how pathetic she looked at the moment. Pathetic in the pretty dress on her birthday.
Celebrations weren't a thing anymore once she grew up and she understood how tiring it can be for the parents. She didn't like to celebrate in a hectic manner anyway. She still had money. Taking a right turn, she entered the cinema hall.
Alone.
She chose a movie with decent reviews. As she sat down with her large popcorn, nachos and cold drink; she watched the movie expressionless. She wanted to enjoy it. But that wasn't working.
Her emotions started pouring out. She took a huge amount of popcorns in her hand and ate them furiously, tears streaming down her cheeks. Staring at the large screen before her, she wondered if it was time. Not for the movie to end, but this pathetic clinging one-sided love to end.
"Um...excuse me, you're on my seat."
Y/N heard a deep voice call her. She looked at the guy standing with his popcorn.
"Oh never mind, are you okay?" he asked concerned, and sat next to her, "Should I call someone?"
"Call the God of Calamity for me," she muttered and turned her gaze to the screen.
After a few minutes, she thought about the kind of behavior that this nice guy received from her when all he wanted was to help her. Feeling guilty and a lot more embarrassed, she sighed and turned to her left to apologize and was surprised.
Surprised to see his hand extended towards her. And his hand holding a handkerchief.
"It's okay," he said.
even if I am not there in your gathering,
there is no remorse,
there is no remorse,
stories of ours, of our closeness,
aren't less,
they are plenty.
so many times I have turned
my mornings into evenings sitting in your courtyard.
The cards were all printed and sent to the guests. He looked at the beautifully decorated card of invitation he received.
Was he called the god of calamity for this? For messing things up all the time? He loathed the name of the guy written on it. It should have been him.
It would have been him if he didn't mess it all up. Things took a turn after that day. He got to experience the same feeling Y/N felt when she waited for him day after day. He watched her get close to the guy and didn't have the power to do anything about it.
It was for her own good.
Hiyori found a human partner for herself too. But it wasn't the same as Y/N. It was never the same. Thinking about how he could've made things better if he just met her that day, made him feel worse.
It would've been him entering the cinema hall that day, maybe holding hands. It would've been him who would hold her close, feel her affection. But that wasn't the case anymore. Her love was now reserved for someone else. Her touches belonged to someone else.
But it was okay. They've spent their time together. They've made memories together. And he will cherish them for the rest of his life.
She was happy. He wanted to decline the invitation to the wedding but...no he couldn't do that to her. Not again.
He couldn't do that to her on the happiest day of her life.
I am turning my path from your direction,
I am sandal, leaving my fragrance (with you)...
leaving my heart's desires under your pillow,
this ascetic wraps the cotton cloth of an ascetic and leaves..
"You shouldn't...drink any more of that. You're already looking a bit drunk Yato."
Her voice snapped him out of the trance he was in. He chuckled and said, "I am not drunk Y/N."
"Shut up," she said and was about to scold him up but he interrupted.
"Your husband is looking for you," he said and looked at the man in a suit. Years have passed and Yato wished for him to mess up some way so that he can finally get his chance...
But this man really loved her. He loved and cared for Y/N more than he ever could. Even after all the major fights. He never left her...alone. And she waited for him like she once did for Yato.
"Congratulations," Yato said and turned to the exit, ignoring the desperate calls of his friends in the hall.

MASTERLIST
end note: so this fic was mainly inspired from the song channa mereya, and this song touched the hearts of many people in india because of the words of amitabh bhattacharya, voice of arijit singh and also the incredible performance of the actors — that made us really feel the emotions behind it. honestly no regrets. it’s a beautiful song and i wanted to write on it. kind of messy since it’s my first song fic.
Hello! I saw that the requests are open, and I'd like to ask headcannons with the romantic (or smut? Both are fine) prompt First I love you with Kiryu and a young female reader (Kiryu can be any age I don't mind both are 18+ tho) thank you in advance! (by the way some mobile links don't work :(()
Thanks for the request! Before I get to that, though, can you let me know which ones aren’t working for you? I tested them and they seem to be working fine? Let me know so I can get it fixed! 🥰
-> You say it first. A harmless slip you don’t even notice until you realize Kiryu is staring at you in shock.
-> He tells you he feels the same way and kisses your lips so softly it reminded you of that time a snowflake landed on your nose. He does not say “I love you.”
-> Kiryu says it to you for the first time after watching your favorite movie in your living room. He didn’t want to go to the theater like you’d planned, but you were quick to offer an alternative.
-> You’d decked out your living room with fairy lights and a lot of pillows with a charcuterie board full of snacks you’d made (candy sushi, cookies, etc) and bought (theater candy, popcorn, etc). It felt like a sleepover, and in a way it was since Kiryu was spending the night.
-> The whole thing was adorable and childlike and he was so happy to be here for this. He saw the effort you had put into this movie date and couldn’t take his eye off of you as you quite the movie, moving around with it like you were acting out scenes in your seat, dancing around to the music, etc,
-> The movie ended, the credits rolled, and you looked to him. “How was it?” You asked.
New SS Vitesse fic tomorrow!! And then I’ll finally have enough fics published to post my TGAA masterlist!!! I’ll be putting a link to it in my pinned post, so I hope there are folks out there who’ll look forward to it ^^
Hey!! It's crimsonflowerheaven again! May I request some cuddle headcanons with your fav boi Kiryu please?
Aw, my fav 🥰 I had fun creating this one. I love cute, simple fluff.
* Kiryu loves to cuddle with you. It’s almost as though the big tough guy he presents himself as is just a facade, because as soon as you two get some alone time, he becomes very touchy-feely, grabbing your hands and stroking them, pulling you into his lap, and snuggling you from behind.
* He loves being the big spoon. The feeling of holding you close, his muscular arms wrapped around you comfortably, gives him this sense of fulfillment that he’s protecting what’s his, and he loves nuzzling his head right in between your neck and shoulder, the scent of your hair soothing him further.
* While Kiryu isn’t known for his conversation skills, intimate moments like when you guys are snuggling are when he becomes fairly chatty. He loves to talk with you about everything from how your day went to the latest murder in Kamurocho, your head on his chest, arm draped across his belly, as he runs his long fingers through your hair, all while it’s just the two of you, in blissful serenity. The deep rumble in his chest when he speaks can sometimes be a bit therapeutic, even.
* He isn’t the best with words especially when it comes to relationships and expressing what he wants, so instead of outwardly saying he wants some wholesome snuggles, he will wrap his arms around you from behind and set his head on top of yours, usually followed by a heavy sigh. He also pretends to act tired, knowing that you’re always down for a nap. He’ll even fake yawn and rub his eyes to try and further convince you to lay with him.
