i've always liked daenerys, and i'm so devastated about her dying. i wanted her to be on the throne more than anything! i'm so angry that she got fucked over like she did. jon was one of my favorite characters but honestly i lost all respect for him for that. i hate the "man kills a woman so the audience can feel bad for him" trope. daenerys deserved better and i'm still not over it
I don’t blame Jon (okay maybe a little bit) but I actually blame bad writing. This isn’t book!Daenerys and this isn’t book!Jon. Actually, I think most if not all of season 8 has been d&d’s own strange version of them for plots sake.
Let’s get a few things straight. Book!Jon would not give a single damn about being related to Daenerys. Show!Jon kept telling Daenerys he loved her then pulling away because she’s his aunt which is dare I say ~ b U l L s H i T ~ because 1) literally every single character in the world of ASOIAF is born of incest in some capacity. Most of our characters save Joffery, Tommen and Myrcella / Daenerys are born from cousin to cousin marriages. Joanna Lannister and Tywin Lannister were cousins. Rickard Stark and Lyarra Stark were cousins. For heavens sake, they had Sansa be betrothed to her cousin and she along with everyone else was fine with it? They completley pulled the sHeS mY aUnT out of no where for drama and for drama only.
The fact that they made show!Jon heir is……….. hysterical and ridiculous. No high septon in his right mind would have annulled Rhaegars marriage to Elia and bastardize his trueborn children just because he got another girl pregnant.
The Mad King named Viserys his heir after he believed Rhaegar had betrayed him for the Dornish, taking away all chances that Rhaegars or his children would sit on the throne. By passing it onto Viserys , he ultimately passed it to Daenerys.
If after all that Jon is still for some dumbass reason still the rightful heir, Daenerys wouldn’t be as threatened by him as she was in the show. Daenerys this whole time has had to suffer the weight of being the last Targaryen, and that the blood of old Valryia will die with her. I’ve always seen Daenerys being overjoyed that she is not the last Targaryen, she literally says, “If my brothers son Aegon has lived, maybe I would have married him” LIKE heLLO
Anyways. I hate that they made him do that. Jon who wouldn’t kill Ygrite even though she’d shot him multiple times, killed plenty of innocents when attacking villages. They only did this to hurt Daenerys and hurt those who care about her. That’s it. The great thing is, is everyone under the sun see’s how not only out of character it is, but how boringly fucking cliche it is.
As I said before, woman goes mad with power and grief and has to be killed by her boyfriend…….. groundbreaking.
