It was a pitiful sight to Hermann, watching the sailor, Ahab, struggle to form a coherent thought other than unplanned revenge. Shutting her up, even if for a moment, seemed complicated at first, until a plate of food was placed before her. A good meal during sea voyages was not something that had been plausible, she assumed, so the chance to feast on anything even somewhat above average always meant undivided attention to nothing but the plate that lay in front of you.

The trick always worked. In fact, it worked a bit too well, and Hermann's many attempts at getting Ahab to quiet down had resulted in the woman that was skin and bones growing softer, not in heart but in shape.

She was not sure why, but Hermann felt the need to keep going with this. The sight pleased her, so there's no reason to not have fun.
