if there was a way to place the world into the palm of your hand, i would. if there was a way to let the galaxy rotate on the pinpoint of your fingertips, i would. if there was a way to make the stars shimmer in the darkest part of your eyes, i would. and if there was a way to make you happy, whether it meant jumping off of a bridge into a stream that ran longer than my love for you, i would. or i could stop drinking for you, if you wanted me too..
i really would.
and,..
perhaps if i gave you another chance you would, but we both know what promises we’ve broken in our past tries. you, always promising to change; me, never really giving you the opportunity too. at what point should we just give up and allow the ruins of everything we’ve destroyed to rest? when is it safe to say that we do not work? it is not from lack of trying, believe me. i am the wind on a rainy day and you are the sunlight trying to shine through. you are the ocean, promising peace and safety only to learn that your waves are stronger that you thought. i am a sailor in love with the ocean, only to find that I am being tossed and turned by your tides. i hold onto my ship for dear life for fear of being thrown overboard and sinking into all that is you. understand, i love you. i love you just like the sailor loved the ocean. but that love doesn’t make me blind to your dangers.
- and that love doesn’t make me any safer with you.
