05. the hierophant, 16. the tower
major arcana headcanons
05. the hierophant : what are your muse’s morals / ethics ? do they follow their moral code strictly ?
faye pretends she’s more ethically driven than she really is. for a long time, she liked to think that she’d only turn against men who were immoral themselves, her first real human kill being her own abuser. faye’s moral code is tied intrinsically to her own self-interest. killing rapists is a bonus, and she actively seeks them out in order to enact her rage, but she’s killed ex boyfriends (or, she’d consider it more apt to say she let them die) for the harmless act of disappointing her.
faye considers betrayal to be an unforgivable sin, and will kill you for it.
she also won’t kill women who haven’t done anything to her - because she gives them the benefit of the doubt until they prove themselves guilty. men don’t get the same luxury with her.
16. the tower : what event drastically changed your muse’s life ? do they resent that event or are they glad of it ?
one. at age eight faye was adopted by a cult leader who she was inevitably forced into a marriage with on her fourteenth birthday.
two. the introduction of both r.andall flagg and serafina, and their warring influence on faye and her actions, especially during this time. serafina ultimately wins out; her devotion to the goddess is a central pillar in her life. a lot of faye’s decision making hinges on whether or not she thinks serafina would approve of her going through with something.
three. the first play she was ever involved in came about through a series of coincidences - the director just so happened to be eating (drunk, in the middle of the night, in the throes of despair) in the diner she was working at, at the time. he had her audition based on her likeness and personality alone. there’s also the instance of the lead falling prey to a freak accident that allowed faye to usurp her role, but that wasn’t as much of a coincidence as the rest of us are pretending to believe.
four. her relationship with lauritz, a danish filmmaker who would go on to direct the film that wins faye her best actress oscar. faye’s award winning performance wouldn’t have been possible without the arguably inhumane conditions he forced her to work under. she doesn’t regret it, but she resents him for it. he’s the only ex boyfriend that’s ever survived her, but i don’t think he’ll survive yancy.
five. her eventual marriage to yancy; her career in the 70s wouldn’t be nearly what it is without him to collaborate with. i also don’t think she’d be as stable as she is while she’s aging, and probably would’ve ended up doing something dumb and impulsive without considering the consequences of her actions (which is a pretty normal day for her, but i mean life-alteringly bad). she also wouldn’t be as happy and content as she is!
quinn doesn’t like to pretend most days, she is who she is and that’s all that she is. however it’s nights like these that have you questioning everything and everyone around you. where the silence is so maddening that you can swear you hear whispers as the mind tries to interpret noise. the fog so dense you can barely see a few feet ahead of you. it’s the kind of night that nightmares are made of. so preoccupied with her own thoughts she doesn’t even notice the body that hits her own. his coffee drops on the ground, as well as her own tiny frame. so when she jumps up quickly, her hand instinctively rubs the back of her neck. ❛ i am so sorry, and i can definitely replace that. ❜

“How many hospital bills are you worth, anyway?"
INJURY STARTERS // ACCEPTING
❛ None, that’s why I’m gettin’ the fuck out’a here. Gimme that wheelchair. ❜ He doesn’t know who brought him here but he wants to find them and shake them violently. WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME? He wants to ask. Why would you sacrifice my LIFE like this? He just needs to get out of here so he can begin damage control. Damage control, smudging the documents, rinse, repeat. He’s still in the stupid fucking hospital gown but he could give less of a damn as he shakily rises from bed.
❛ Hey, hey, hey---- mate, come here. Quick, hm... real quick question. ❜ He’s twitchy but he hides it well, hands shoved deep in his pockets, smile lopsided and fake. He’s being gentle, polite with this guy because who KNOWS what he’ll conjure up for Mr. Glass’s hands.
