Summary: It wasn't like Cas to be late.
Four years of friendship, four years of Friday night movies and beer, every single week, and he'd never been late before.
Dean wasn't worried. He wasn't.
I love these tiny little AUs, the kind that somehow manage to pack layers of emotion and history into so few words. The brief sketch we get of Dean and Cas’ friendship, from its somewhat rocky beginning to the solid thing it is now, is just enough to give weight to the action of the story without completely overwhelming it. Dean’s worry over Cas’ absence is perfectly described, bringing us right into his state of mind and keeping us just as concerned as he is. Of course, the resolution is a welcome release of tension, and there’s just enough humour in the ending to keep the sweetness from being cloying.
