Tips for lazy and disorganized students
Hello everyone, how are you doing? Hope you're having a amazing day! This is a special post for all my fellow lazy students who have a hard time staying focused and getting things done efficiently. I sincerely hope this tips will as helpful for as they are for me, so don't forget to reblog this if my advices are useful. Enough with the small talk, let's jump right into the tips!
1 - Find motivation
Studying can be really exhausting when you don't really have anything/anyone to rely into. As my first tip, I highly recommend you guys to find a strong figure to be your inspiration, helping you to start a productive and enjoyable study life. My main inspiration is @studyquill, 'cause whenever I'm having a bad or lazy day, I look up to her content to feel instantly better.
2 - Be honest with yourself
I believe we all went through the Super Man fase, when you feel like you have all the time in the world and don't have to deal with anything else besides studying, and we all know this isn't possible. When doing something that demands a lot from your body and mind, it's important to be honest with yourself. How long can you study and actually be productive? Will you have time to take care of yourself and be with your family and friends? If any of the answers is no, then you should rethink your schedule.
3 - Get your sh*t together
Yeah, spending the whole day on your bed, watching some videos on YouTube or spending hours on Netflix is amazing, just like hanging out every friday night with your friends or doing any other fun things instead of studying. Even though leisure time is extremely important, you need to balance your curricular activities with your social life, creating priorities.
4 - Organize your work space
Yeah, it might be a complete pain in the ass, but organization is a big key when it comes to productivity. Several studies prove that a disorganized work space limit our capacity to focus and make us feel tired more quickly, so it's important to keep only the useful goods in your desk while studying. I'm completely lost when it comes to organizating my own supplies, so I start by finding the resources I'm going to use for that studying period and then organize the rest of my room, keeping it as clean as possible.
5 - Make a planner
All my procrastination buddies put your hands up! It sounds clichè, I know, but writing down the thinga you have to do actually helps. Simple to-do lists saved my life a lot of times and I can assure you with some personal background that it's not impossible to keep track of your duties only by classifying priorities daily/weekly. I use a bullet journal (any other visual learners out there?) to summarize my assignments and since I've started doing it the ballence between my social and academic life's been a lot more stable.
6 - Get rid of distractions
I believe we all struggle agaist the will of staying in bed all day just staring at the phone and this is one of the reasons why most of us feel overwhelmed with duties and procrastinate. Forest is a absolutely worth the hype app that you should dowload as soon as posible: It will block access to your phone for a amount of time chosen by you. It also has a really cute tree layout and a reward mechanic with coins that can be used at the store section, where you can buy new trees and calming sounds, for exemple.
7 - Make studying fun
Find a study method that fits your style and try to create a pleasant, harmonic work space; keep in mind that even though studying is kind of an "obligation", is quite easy to make the whole process nice. Personally speaking, I like to take pretty, colorful notes and play around creating some doodles and fancy lettering once I've finished everything else. Also, listening to chill beats (usually lofi hip hop and jazz) helps me to boost my concentration and keeps boredom away.
8 - Don't push yourself
Okay, this is one the most important things in study life but most of us just forget about it: Self care is a priority! Taking care of your body and mind can not only keep you healthy and more productive but also create a shield around you that will protect your overall well being. Remember to sleep at least 8 hours a day and eat five small meals, taking a daily hour to just relax and detox your brain is an amazing kick start for the next day and cold showers can be just what you need in a lazy day.
