blackjack has an extensive dedicated collection of matching pajama sets she got from like target and victorias secret and she wears them every night and they all generally look like this

ok blackjacks current purse has a LOT it has like.. i need to fill out a new character sheet for her bc she got fired as hell so the like Gear is subject to change but i think she carries a small handgun and a first aid kit and also nicotine gum and snacks and her wallet and her keys and cigarettes and a bottle of ibuprofen and a bottle of allegra and a bottle of tylenol and a sharpie and some random jewelry of hers. and probably other stuff im forgetting but you know she has one of those huge mom purses. oh my god i didnt even notice i was onyl supposed to list 5 thinfs SORRY

also back when she was a detective she didnt have a purse she had a briefcase and it had casefiles in it but also lots of loose bullets and cigarettes and pills. and a cd labeled "drinking mix" with lots of leonard cohen on it

Slow Day

gift fic for @thestarfilledsea (HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY💛) starring her oc Li Huifen

Huifen had been having a great morning. Calm, slow, and with a dash of humans occasionally asking her where to find certain books. It was a normal, quiet day for her. Perfect.

That is until two very familiar figures burst into her library with a raging demon hot on their heels. Huifen sighs and dodges the bits of debris that fly past her head.

“Get him! Get him!” Tang shouts frantically, stumbling in his haste to get away from the demon.

“What do you think i’m doing?!” Sun Wukong shouts back, smacking the demon away with the spiked end of a mace. It crashes into a row of bookshelves, knocking them over like large dominoes. The demon groans, but lays still.

“I think you’re just standing there showing off.” Tang rolls his eyes.

Wukong pauses to glare at him, giving the demon a small kick. When it doesn’t move he walks over casually, the mace balanced on his shoulder. “It’s called multitasking.”

“Uh-huh. Sure.” Tang huffs, turning to face Huifen. “Sorry about all…this, Ms. Li.”

“Mm. I was thinking of remodeling anyway.” Huifen says dismissively. “Although…I wish this could’ve waited till after closing.”

A couple of humans peek out from behind the still standing shelves. Huifen offers a small wave as they sprint out of the building, staring wide-eyed at the demon and then at Wukong leaning boredly against the wall. He flashes them a toothy grin and raises a few fingers in greeting.

“Run along now.” Huifen gestures towards the gaping hole in the wall that used to be the entrance. The mortals race out of the building, dragging each other along and stumbling down the street.

Wukong chuckles, watching them leave. Huifen turns to look at him, eyeing the mace. “Now, not that I don’t enjoy your company, but please enlighten me as to why wherever you two are, property damage follows?”

Tang winces. “Sorry again, Ms. Li. But if someone hadn’t stolen from it—”

“Oh, please.” Wukong scoffs, tapping the hilt of the mace. It’s well crafted, the metal engraved with swirls and symbols she can’t quite read from her current angle. No wonder he took the thing, it’s beautiful. “It was just sitting there! Collecting dust! What was I supposed to do?”

“Okay yeah, fair, but you didn’t even get away with it! And, uh, actually…” Tang freezes, looking around. “Weren’t we being chased by two—”

Before the scholar can finish his sentence, a roar splits the air and a second demon comes charging into the library. It snarls at Wukong, its eyes locking on the mace. The Sage pushes off the wall, giving the mace a twirl and grinning at the demon, then at Huifen.

“What d’you say, Ms. Li?” He says, a mischievous lilt in his voice. “Want to have some fun?”

The demon paws at the floor, then charges at them, shaking the building with every step. Huifen hums, slipping a band off her wrist and using it to tie her hair up before stepping towards Wukong, standing between him and Tang. A soft green glow trailing after her.

“You and I have very different versions of fun.” She huffs, squaring her shoulders. “However, it was a slow day. So I suppose I can indulge you.”

Wukong grins, spinning the mace once before leaping forward and swinging the spiked ball into the demon's jaw. It stumbles back with a howl of pain. The Sage waits for the demon to find its footing, yawning all the while.

Tang’s eyes flash, and a golden sheen covers Huifen. The usual glow of her power burns brighter, the soft green shifting to neon. She glances at Tang, who nods towards the demon preparing for another charge.

“You’re turn.” Wukong says. Huifen rolls her eyes and steps forwards, joining in on the fun.
