So finally here's the first chapter/prologue to the pynch soulmate au!

Summary: Adam and Ronan are emphatic soulmates since they were 8, what will happen when they meet?

Ronan Lynch found out about soulmates when he was 8 years old.

It went something like this: he would usually feel upset around the evenings or nights. He didn't even know why he felt like that when nothing had happened to upset him. And sometimes he would feel mixed things. Like he would be playing with his brothers so he would be happy, but there would be a heavy feeling in his chest. Then, because he was frustrated at not knowing why he felt upset, he would get angry. His parents started noticing his behaviour and he’d hear them whisper in worried tunes. Then one day his mother made him sit down on her bed when his dad was gone for work again, and she asked about his different behaviour.

“I don't know why I feel like this,” he told her. “I just get sad for no reason then I get angry at being sad.”

His mother looked thoughtful before gently saying, “Ronan, we think you might be soulbound.”

so the epilogue of hiaap might still be few more days late, this week has again been hectic and then after losing moony, i couldn't really concentrate enough to write. but here's a snippet till then!

“Where did they go?” Ronan asked.

“I think I heard them going upstairs,” Declan replied.

So they walked upstairs as well and as they heard voices coming from the attic they went up. There they found Matthew and Adam sitting by a trunk and Matthew was showing Adam some old photos.

Oh god no, Ronan thought, remembering the embarrassing pictures. To his horror, they were the singing competition ones. “Why the fuck did you take those out?” Ronan asked Matthew, narrowing his eyes at him.

“I was telling him about the competitions and he didn't believe it, so I showed him proof.”

“Very good, Matthew,” Declan said. “Those cringey reminders are very important.”

Ronan glared at him. “Don't forget that you participated too.”

“Well my boyfriend isn’t currently looking at the pictures now, is he?” Declan retorted with a smirk.

“You were such an adorable baby,” Adam said, smiling widely at Ronan.

What do you do when you're sad and scared after reading mi, you write a completely self indulgent scene that has no need in your fic of course XD

Adam did as told and Ronan picked Chainsaw up to place her on Adam's hand. Then, he nudged her, but she just slid down the sheet, looking very unimpressed.

“Come on, you're not even trying!” Ronan said, throwing up his hands.

“Do you think she will eventually learn on her own?”

“Fuck if I know,” Ronan replied. “Naturally, her parents would teach her right?”

“Last I remember, I didn't agree to co-parent with you.”

“Well she's taking a liking to you for some reason, so you’re stuck with her,” Ronan said, grinning.

“I think she might be worth having to suffer with you.”

“Hey fuck you, I'm a delight.” Ronan put her back in her cage on the table, saying that was enough practice. As he got under the covers next to Adam, he jerked his feet back. “How the fuck are your feet still so cold? You were under the blankets!”

“I don't know. How are yours already warm?” Adam asked, moving his feet towards Ronan’s again.

“Jesus fucking Christ!” Ronan yelled as Adam touched his calves. “Keep those icy feet away from me!”

His outburst made Chainsaw squawk and Adam buried his face in the pillow to muffle his wheezing laugh. He didn't like his sudden laugh, it was loud and obnoxious. Everything he didn't like being.

“Ssh you’ll wake up the others,” he said, moving his feet closer still.

Ronan shuffled away, taking the blanket with him.

“Hey!” Adam said in protest.

“You’re like a block of ice,” Ronan huffed.

Adam narrowed his eyes and waited for some time for Ronan to let down his guard and loosen his grip on the blanket but when he didn't, Adam said, “What's this?” and moved to brush his hand over Ronan's shaved hair. He only wanted to distract Ronan for one second, but Ronan stilled completely, his grip falling open.

Adam took the opportunity to snatch the blanket, rolling over it so Ronan couldn't pull it back, and grinned triumphantly at Ronan's shocked face.

“Parrish, you fucker!” Ronan exclaimed, trying in vain to pull the blanket. “How the fuck did you make a burrito like that?”

Adam just laughed helplessly and the door opened as Gansey and Noah walked in. They looked at Adam rolled in the blanket laughing, then at Ronan sitting up now, then at Chainsaw squawking at the top of her lungs.

ooh i actually had the idea for hiaap like months before i actually started writing it because i didnt know if i could write a long pynch fic at first 😅 but yeah i remember i read most of the soulmate aus and then of course started thinking of one because its an interesting trope but its usually quickly found out yk? i mean like with the "first word your soulmate says to you written on your skin" sort trope, its usually short, but i loved the idea of long story where before finding out that they were soulmates they'd get to know and like each other so it started from that and then became a fic of everything i had wanted to read. so yeah it was basically a 'what if mostly everything was canon but there were soulmates?'

Just an update that I won't be able to post the epilogue today. I tried working on it whenever I could this week but between Luna getting sick and my own doctor appointments I couldn't find much time or energy. I'm gonna try my best to have it out next week though! Thanks again for the support 💛💛

It had been almost two weeks now since Adam had been living at Monmouth. He and Ronan had gone to St. Agnes to talk with the office lady working there and check the apartment. If everything went well, he would be able to move in after a week. He had also started working at Boyd's and the factory again to save up more for rent which was way lesser than he could have thought. Working again was different but going smoother than he would have expected. After the first few times his coworkers came up on his left side, he had told them about his hearing loss, and to his surprise and gratitude, they had been making small changes for him.

He had told Yasir about it too, along with what happened at school with Tad, and Yasir had replied that it was good that Ronan was scary then and he was good for Adam. Adam hadn’t understood the second statement until Yasir had randomly started referring to Ronan as “your boy” and at Adam's confused horror had assured him that he wouldn't tell anyone about his crush.

And wasn’t that absolutely absurd!

Adam did not have a crush on Ronan.

He knew many people had crushes and dated others before they met their soulmate and of course he had liked people before, but Ronan wasn't- he wasn't like other people. Even admitting that he had a crush- which he was not doing- would feel like a big deal. So what if he thought Ronan was attractive? Anyone with eyes could see that. And so what if he really liked spending time with him? He was his best friend of course he would.
