Last Song: I’m listening to old BBC Proms stuff, so I’m rewatching the 2015 Beethoven’s 9 Choral (my favourite piece of music ever) that I attended. I was in the choir seats, because the acoustics are shit in the Albert Hall. I just burst into tears at 3.19 on the track

Last TV Show: The last new thing I watched all the way through was The Queen’s Gambit (yeah I’m late to the party I know). It was very good It would’ve been even better if we were ever allowed to forget she’s a long-legged beauty acting the part of a chess prodigy

Currently Watching: I just watched the first two episodes of Emily in Paris - I was curious because Paris. Well, that was a mistake! As a palette cleanser I’ll watch some DS9 before I start on Sandman *rubs hands together gleefully*

Currently Reading: A Conspiracy of Kings (Queen’s Thief series). Gen is baby ofc, but I am in love with Helen (Eddis) and want to be her consort, if she’ll have me

4 stars. I'd say so, I've really enjoyed most of the books I've read this year.

17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

Pride and Prejudice. I was so ready to find it boring, but it was actually quite funny.

😱 so you think nathan farooq-lane may have dreamed the moderators to have them kill other dreamers? that's something I hadn't thought about! do you think he's really dead?? 🧐

I definitely think that the other 23 seemingly random people he killed were also dreamers! At first I thought that seemed like a lot of people, but then after the end of MI and the number of things that fell asleep when they ley lines switched off, it looks like being a dreamer is a lot more common than originally thought. I think that if Nathan did dream them, he dreamt them as a quick and efficient way of getting rid of other dreamers, so he could have more ley line energy to dream, without having to do the work himself. And he faked his own death using a clone of himself...? This is where this theory falls apart 😅 but I still think maybe he isn't actually dead!

However, another theory I like more is that Carmen dreamt the Moderators. Because of what her brother did, she's afraid of dreamers and their power. She's very adamant that she isn't like him, always trying to prove to herself and the Mods that she's nothing like him, and not on his side. She's suppressed the fact that she's a dreamer, lying to herself and the reader. She dreamt them without knowing, a manifestation of her fear of the power of dreamers, in the same way that Ronan dreamt Bryde without acknowledging it. It's a little suspicious, don't you think, that she was the only one of them that wasn't a dream? And that she just went along with them?

I don't think that Ronan dreamt them. If he did, it's Ronan Lynch's world and we're just living in it 😂 that plot twist has been used too often now, and also if he did, what's the point of the Farooq-Lane family's story?

"I don't want to put on sunscreen," Ronan says, half-expecting Adam to argue you can't change reality just by wanting it bad enough. "I want to drag your ass into the ocean." He tugs on Adam's arm again.

Adam digs his heels into the sand and doesn't budge. Fuck, why does he have to be so stubborn; fuck, Ronan loves that he's so stubborn.

"Lynch, we drove two hours to get here," he says. "We're damn well not leaving until we've done everything we want to do. You have time to prevent skin cancer and shove me under a wave."

Ronan squints through the impossible brightness of the day, staring hard to see Adam -- his Adam, Adam Parrish, telling him that they don't have to pick and choose which desires to chase, that they don't have to ration joy, that today they can have everything we want.

He thumps down on his ass next to their beach towel, "fine, get it over with," and lets Adam take care of him.

28. First kiss - Adam/Ronan

First kisses are overrated. You always remember your first, they tell you. And it’s true, Ronan will never forget sitting on the bed next to Adam Parrish and kissing him mere days before the world nearly ended. It’s burned into his memory, something he’ll relive in dreams, bring to the front of his mind anytime he feels trapped at the Barns. But it won’t be the only first kiss he’ll treasure. For Ronan Lynch, when anything could be your last something, it’s much more meaningful to make just about anything a first, so he does. He hoards all the first moments he has with Adam in their last months at Aglionby, and then all the firsts from a summer spent at the Barns. They’re a flip book he takes out when he has his headphones on, and the moon hangs high over his bedroom window.

The first time he kisses Adam just under his deaf ear. The first time Adam kisses each of the tattooed claws hooked into his shoulders. The first time they kiss in the laundry room, the first time they kiss against the BMW and in the backseat of the Hondayota. As Adam starts college, Ronan gathers up more first kisses — against the back of Adam’s dorm room door, on a bench at the end of the courtyard, and the first time Adam has to deliberately pry his fingers out of the front of Ronan’s jacket to say goodbye at the end of the weekend.

Maybe first kisses are some hallmark bullshit, Ronan thinks, but he’ll never forget any of them.

favorite thing about them

He's very deliberate. Nothing he does is accidental. So when he's being cold, he's doing it fully on purpose. And when he's letting loose, that's something he's thought about and allowed himself to be. It also means that, although he has very rocky relationships with, well, everyone: Gansey and Ronan and Blue, he deliberately puts in the effort to maintain them.

least favorite thing about them

He's so insistent on being alone. I understand that trust is hard for him, but it's frustrating to watch him push people away time after time.

favorite line

I don't have the energy to scan all the books, but I love bitchy Adam. Anything like "That's the biggest lie you've ever told" or "Not in this car you haven't," any of those roasts I just love.

random headcanon

I think Adam had a crush on Ronan first. I think he saw him from afar, or heard him be Super Smart in Latin, and was like 👀 And then the second he got a glimpse of Ronan's personality he was like NO THANKS.

unpopular opinion

I've been vibing with TDT!Adam. I think it's genuinely fucking insane that he drove 16 hours to visit Ronan on Halloween (I will never shut up about how most of CDTH takes place on fucking Halloween) but I boil that down to a mstief impracticality. But yeah! I'd be bored with three books of a smooth sailing relationship, so I've enjoyed his character treatment so far.
