“ they aren’t even nightmares; they’re memories. “ hibiki @ beau
Beau had thought they were being robbed. He’d been woken up by screaming and almost leapt out of bed, only being stopped by the hand on his arm that pulled him back, making him turn his head to notice the signing behind him. “Oh, thank god,” he muttered at first, his southern drawl even slower in his half-awake state. “Thought we was ‘bout to be murdered then.”
He struggled to keep up with Hibiki’s hands at the best of times, but it only got worse when he was sleepy. “Hold up, slow down. Slow--” He reached out, grasping the other’s hands and stilling them before signing for himself. “Hey, hey, it’s alright,” he said, speaking along as he motioned. “Whatever the memories are -- they ain’t gonna hurt you. C’mere, c’mon. Lie back down; I’ll keep you safe. We ain’t gotta talk ‘bout it if you don’t want.” His signing stopped in favour of putting his arms around the smaller man. He got back under the covers, urging Hibiki to follow suit, biting his bottom lip nervously. Normally he’d have whispered something in the tengu’s ear, but he knew all too well that he wouldn’t be able to hear it. Instead he used his hands, not to sign but to touch him, stroking him comfortingly and holding him close. It was all he could do.
