[continued from HERE]Â
The whole scene brought a soft smile to his face. The most interesting part â even more interesting than the scenic places he visited â were the people. It was often a tourists perspective that colored his journeys to other countries. Even now, Benny had no doubt that they were all acting differently because he was present. It was still a pleasant snapshot â a memory he could remember for just himself.Â
The calm before the storm.
Benny took the spicy variety with a nod and a âthank youâ. It wasnât the most filling meal, but he wouldâve eaten anything. Now that the vague sense of nausea from the drive had faded, he was left with a strong hunger. Travel had that effect on him. He chased it back with a long drink, pulling the glass away from his lips with a satisfied sigh.Â
âNow, GrahamâŠâ he began, turning to face his guide more fully, âHow long have you all been working at this local attraction? ItâsâŠbeen blowing up online â I see it posted all over the place â butâŠwell, itâs been kind of difficult to find people, other than your representatives, to give a commentâŠâ he explained, scratching along the side of his beard.Â
He took another drink. âYou guys have like aâŠI donât know â you make âem swear to secrecy or something?â Benny asked, chuckling and grinning.Â
Benny took the spicy option and Graham chuckled. âYer a man of fine taste, I see,â he said as he opened the scampi-flavoured packet instead. âYâwant anythinâ else? Iâve heard you yanks are big eaters.â
As they ate and drank, the patrons of the public house started to shift and change. One lunch hour ended and another started, with Vince and Spencer calling out a short farewell before they headed out of the double doors at the entrance. A new set of locals quickly replaced them. Drinks, snacks, and home-cooked pub meals milled from the bar to the tables. Even the sour-faced Hanson reappeared eventually, collecting up empty glasses and bringing them back behind the counter.
It wasnât long before Benny started the conversation back up. This tourist really was full of questions, wasnât he? âOh, I ainât sure,â he replied with a thoughtful tap of his chin. âIt mustâve been goinâ on ten years at this point. Ainât really picked up much âtil lately though.â
Benny laughed and Graham had to laugh too. âSomething like that,â he said. âOur patrons always end up taking the secret to the grave.â He smiled, but the glimmer in his eye didnât match the soft expression on his face.

inshadowssilentâ:
âWell, Iâm cool with both of those. I appreciate you picking me up and showing me aroundâŠâ Benny smiled. He stepped inside, clutching his backpack close.Â
It smelt the same as most out-of-the-way bars. They always smelt; every desolate place heâd traveled has the same unpleasant aroma. Nice to know that some things remained consistent across time-zones and continents. Even when they werenât nice things at all.Â
Introductions were always a whirlwind â he tried to memorize the names and faces as they were brought up. Benny was glad to have Graham between them; something about them made him feel nervous. He kept up his polite smile, nodding but not speaking.Â
The barmaid only seemed to continue the trend of punk aesthetic that seemed to run rampant here. It was at odds with the sleepy look of the town around them; the juxtaposition was inspiring. If he wasnât nervous about offending his hosts, he would have asked them for a picture. Maybe later. âSomething local would be great, thanksâŠâ he smiled.
His eyes went wide at the massive man behind the counter. The profanity reminded him that he was in a real place â sometimes it was easy to get lost in the daze of tourism. The curse seemed to be geared more towards his guide than Benny himself â he made a mental note not to bring that up.Â
âOh, uhâŠthanksâŠâ Benny said, handing off his expensive equipment to the bartender. A part of him wanted to stress its fragility and priceâŠbut a single glance at the massive man made him reconsider. Heâd done this before. The last thing he needed was an American tourist to boss him around. That could make damage of his equipment into a self-fulfilled prophecy.Â
Benny chuckled as soon as Hanson had left the room. âRight, so. Drinks, something to snack on, then weâll head out. I gottaâ admitâŠI knew the House of Horrors was a big draw, around here, but I didnât think weâd get to meet so many employees. You all started recently, orâŠ?âÂ
Graham nodded and turned to the barmaid. âYou âeard the man, Bex. Two oâ yer finest ales, please.â
She snorted. âAinât gonna be local if itâs the finest.â
âGet us some pork scratchings too,â he continued, opting to ignore her. âA couple bags of Nik Naks... Maybe some nuts.â Graham paused before turning to Benny. âYâainât allergic to nuts, are ya? Wouldnât want yâto drop dead on us, after all.â
Bex set to work, filling two glasses to the brim and leaving each with a thick, frothy head. She set them down on the counter before digging around in the snacks, tossing a few bags of what Graham had requested in his direction. The last thing she placed on the bar was a dish of salted nuts, poured fresh from a blue and gold bag.
It was then that Hanson reappeared. âBarrel wants changinâ,â the barmaid said without looking up. The large man clicked his tongue, lifted the hatch, and came up to her side, whispering something into her ear before he disappeared through to the back. Graham cocked a brow, a movement Bex answered with a small self-satisfied shrug. Hanson mustâve noticed something in Bennyâs luggage... and by the look on Bexâs face, it was something expensive. His camera equipment, maybe? He had seemed a little protective.
âOh, yâmean those two?â the guide said, pretending that the silent exchange had never happened. âNah, Vince anâ Spence have both been at it for a good few years. Spencer was one oâ them what helped get it started up -- 'eâs a bit of a tech whiz, 'e is. All the animatronics yer gonna see were set up by âim... by âim, me, anâ Monty. Montyâs the art director down there. Got a real eye for the gory and ghoulish, âas our Monty. Vince is just one oâ the actors anâ that. Ainât got enough brains for the rest of the work.â
âIÂ âeard that,â called Vince from behind, lobbing a peanut at the back of Grahamâs head.
The guide chuckled when it hit him, opening up some snacks of his own. âNow, do you want the spicy or the scampi Nik Naks?â he asked Benny, offering him the two crisp bags in his hands.

Go on anon and pretend to be my museâs child! "DA DA"
đ Wake my muse up during a nightmare | i'm breaking the formula but Moreland and Claudius are checking on Mercutio thanks
It had been a good while since the last time Moreland and Claudius had been woken during the night by crying. The older their son got, the better he was getting at sleeping the whole way through, but there were still a few nights a month when the pair would have to traipse half-asleep into the infantâs room.
As soon as the door opened and Mercutio caught sight of them, he raised his arms and started to cry out. âDaddy!â he whined. That was one of the few words heâd truly mastered thus far. âDaddy! Daddy! Help!â
It was Claudius who reached him first, coming down to his bedside to give him the hug and kiss he so dearly wanted. âWhatâs wrong, baby?â he asked. âDid you have a nightmare?â
Mercutio nodded. âScary,â he murmured in his attempt to explain.
âOh, darling, thereâs nothing to be scared of,â Moreland said as he sat down on the bed and started to stroke his sonâs golden curls. âNightmares are but a manifestation of memory and imagination. They canât hurt you -- not unless you grant them the power to.â
Claudius snorted. âI donât think heâs going to understand that.â
âNonsense,â Moreland said. âYouâre forgetting that we have such a very smart boy. Donât we, Mercutio?â
Reaching down, he started to tickle the toddler, bringing little squealing giggles out of him as he writhed. It didnât take long for the action to tire him out again -- as soon as the warlockâs hands stilled, Mercutioâs big blue eyes became heavy-lidded once more, though now there was a smile on his little chubby face.
âBack to sleep now, baby,â Claudius whispered as he tucked him in. âAnd have pleasant dreams this time, ok?â
Mercutio nodded between each of the kisses he received from his dads. âNighty-night...â he managed as he started to drift off.
Moreland wrapped his arm around Claudius and the two of them quietly went back to bed themselves, doing their best to shut their sonâs bedroom door without waking him again.
đ Roll their eyes at my muse | Hibiki @ Beau
The two of them were lying on the sofa, their legs entwined as they leant against the opposite arms, angled enough for Hibiki to see Beauâs lips and Beau to see Hibikiâs hands even whilst they were watching TV. As soon as the adverts started, the werewolf nudged his boyfriend, getting him to look over just in time to spy Beau glancing at a book titled Sign Language for Dummies. He was trying to be romantic. It was a shame that he was getting every other word wrong.
Hibiki rolled his eyes, but the corners of his mouth were still up-turned. âYouâre doing it wrong,â he signed back.
Beau stopped fiddling with the book and pouted. âAinât my fault Iâve got big olâ clunky fingers.â
Hibikiâs hands started to move again and Beau stopped them, grabbing hold of his wrists and forcing him to still. All it took was a little tug to pull the tengu closer, just close enough for their lips to meet in a sweet and tender kiss.
âWas that sign language good enough for ya?â he asked.
đ§ Wipe away my museâs tears | Operetta @ Junko
It was movie night. Junko had suggested they make it a thing a few months ago after realising how many of her favourite films that Operetta had never seen. There were cartoons, musicals, action flicks, family adventures, and tense dramas that Junko had assured the alien she was sorely missing out on. And so now, every Wednesday night, the two of them curled up with a bowl of sugary popcorn and enjoyed the latest movie that Junko had insisted was a timeless classic.
This week, they were watching Titanic. It was almost funny to see her girlfriendâs reactions to things sheâd seen time and time again, but the closer they got to the ending, the more she too had gotten into it.
Junko hadnât realised she was crying. Not until Operettaâs fingers were on her cheeks brushing away her tears, a concerned pout on her pretty pink lips. It made Junko smile again. âYou donât have to do that,â she said quietly. With a gentle touch, she lightly tugged her girlfriendâs wrists until her hands came free. âIâm just soppy, thatâs all.â
She hesitated for a moment before pushing forwards, pressing a small peck on the sesharrimian and receiving a smattering of gloss in return. âTh-Thank you, though,â she managed to squeak out as her cheeks flared red.
