Man, the Pokémon World Tournament does seem to attract quite a few people with mysterious backstories, doesn't it? When these siblings rocked up in Icon City, there were a few raised eyebrows, given the fact they did so on the backs of Latios and Latias, a pair of incredibly rare Legendary Pokémon. When pressed about it, the two simply say that the Eon Duo have been by their side as long as they remember, and the people from Alto Mare don't think it's that strange.

While both have come to Akkadios to join the Pokémon World Tournament, and while their teams may mirror each other, they have different approaches to battling. Hot-headed, Hy prefer to go for the all-out attack, whereas her brother Gareth would rather think things through, using various status moves to bolster his Pokémon and hinder his opponent to ensure he has greatest possible advantage before attacking.

Feeling the Fire-Type best fits her mentality, Hy likes to open with her Talonflame, it's Gale Wings ability allowing it strike fast with flying moves, while her Magmortar is loaded with powerful fire-type projectile like moves Fire Blast and Flamethrower, as well as a cheeky Thunderbolt to throw off any problematic Water-Types. Her Rapidash is a nimble striker, charging into the fray before her opponents know what's going on, followed by her Volcorona, sweeping the field with intense Heat Waves. Her Flareon, though often times playful, shares Hy's belief that straightforward attack is the best way forward, before finally her Houndoom mops up any foes that got through Hycinth's onslaught of attacks, especially with its Mega Evolution.

As for her freeform team, Hy's strangely grayscale Dracozolt is a thunderous terror, pecking away at foes with its Bolt Beak, while her Hitmonchan likes to mix things up with a combo of elemental punches. Her Solrock, meanwhile, though coming across very zen, prefers to bury foes under a barrage of rocks than rely on its Psychic abilities, her Azumarill sweep the field with massive wave using its Surf attack, and her Accelgor fires off a volley of Water Shurikens in the blink of an eye. And when all else fails, Hy can always rely on her trusted Latias to earn her victory, its powerful Mega Evolution allowing it dominate the skies.

As for Gareth, his specialty leans into the Electric-type, the move Thunder Wave being a commonality amongst his entire team. Always opening with his Kilowattrel, its Tailwind always allows its teammates to strike ahead of their opponents, allowing its Electivire to sweep in with fast, powerful attacks. His Zebstrika, meanwhile, uses a variety of attacks to maximise its coverage, and his Galvantula slows down foes by pinning them with its Electrowebs. His Jolteon, meanwhile, is a competitive little gal who uses its Calm Mind to bolster its defences, before either unleashing a flurry of attacks or passing those defences onto its teammates with a handy Baton Pass. Finally to clean up, Gareth lets Manectric loose, allowing it to cause havoc on the impeded any team with its Mega Evolution.

As for his freeform team, Gareth tends to go for defensive posture with his Arctovish, bolstering its defences with a Substitute to safely attack opponents, while his Hitmonlee plays for an advantage, using its Knock Off attack to remove any items the foes is holding and Swords Dance to power up its attacks. Gareth's Lunatone, meanwhile, is a tricky Pokémon, using its Stealth Rock to punish Gareth's foes when they switch out, before bolstering its power with a immense Meteor Beam. As for his Escavalier, between its Protect and its punishing Toxic, it's knows its a hinderance to foes and enjoy its. And once again, one the scales are firmly tipped in his favour, Gareth knows that his partner Latios can use its Mega Evolution to sweep through all opponents.

Despite their differing approaches, the two siblings actively encourage each other to succeed, especially in the Pokémon World Tournament, and are each other's best cheerleaders. On the contrary, their respective Flareon and Jolteon are extremely competitive, both wanting to one up the other in the tournament... though both immediately put aside their differences as soon as someone throws a ball to them and start playing like the endearing siblings they are.
