HIITing the Hardwood again.
I have only done a couple sessions per week which is less than my usual. I have not been outside for quite a while. The wind is epic and the rain has been as well. I have ridden in the rain, but I am avoiding it while the leaves are falling and littering the road shoulders. I am sure that is why I crashed almost a year ago.
I have no proof, but that is the strongest suspect. Wet mushed up leaves are FN slippery. Generally bike tires in rain have very good traction since they are so skinny.
I have done a couple simulation type rides. I have done a tempo workout or two. Last night I did a rivet hiit.
Part of that was I wanted to see how that affected the Aerobic vs Anaerobic score on the Garmin App. Those hiits push hard and it should score good numbers..... At least I thought so.
So last night I got a 3.6 on the Aerobic Scale "improving your lactate threshold." I got a 2.3 on the Anaerobic scale which is just maintaining. Two weeks ago on my 2 hour simulation ride I got 4.8 and 3.3 respectively. In terms of average and maximum heart rates last night was harder. It was pretty hard as I was fading in the last few sprints.
Oh well, I don't even know if it is worth pursuing. I have trained the same basic way for years. I like the idea of changing something for variety at least. I would like to know what and why. Indoor riding is not fun. Fun is important.
At least I past 4000 km. I last went under 5000 8 years ago. It is just a number, and I was recovering from a nasty crash. I am past that now, so next year should be better. There WILL be a Granfondo!
